TLicense
I have a video file in the .avi format I want to make it into a DVD and then burn it. I have all the necessary hardware, just a lack of free software, (I want to make a dvd, I don't want to pay to do it!) and talent. Can anyone recommend any free software that I can use to make this dvd? I tried winavi but it leaves a watermark in the middle of the screen that you have to pay to get rid of. I also tried super dvd creator, but couldn't get that working too well at all. Any suggestions? Cheers
Jake
Simplest way would be to download "WinMPG Video Convert" and use a crack or serial from astalavista. It's very easy to use software for converting from one video format to another.

MaveriK
I do quite a bit of this and i would recommend the following :- Tmpeg to convert to mpeg2, would advise you do video only VirtualDubMod to extract sound to dvd compliant flavour DVDLAB to put all of it together into a project, you add menus and backgrounds at this point (much easier than pinnacle but has less bells and whistles) Nero to burn to DVD. With the above i get very few sync issues unless the idiot who created the the file used some weird and whacky codec in which case i cuss his/her very existence!! And a said www.vcdhelp.com is a belter for pointers and how to's. Good luck!
