thetrashcanman
Right so now I'm starting to look at what sort of tools I need to work on my Supra, I know I need some sort of Engine crane, so at some point soon I can drop the engine and replace the core plugs on the car. But I'm wondering what else I need. I'm guessing a good ratchet set and torque wrench is a must, and also some sort of ramp to raise the car up, or is it best to just go with Axel stands all round? So could someone recommend me some essential and good quality, but reasonably price tools so I can start looking after my car myself, rather having to take it to the garage everytime something goes wrong or theres something I want done to the car, thanks for any help in advanced. thetrashcanman
What in your tool box? Fill your boots mate cheer's buddy Any specific makes of tools I should be looking out for? From my limited knowledge, I know snap on tools are some of the best (and most expensive?) :| Also if I want to do work under the car work, is it best to get a ramp, or just use Axel stands? listy
I use axel stands, but a ramp would make life easier. As much as people shun Halfrauds, their top of the range tools are really good imo

Ah well I might go and take a drive over to halfords and have a look for a good ratchet set and torque wrench

Buy some wide wooden planks, chop them up into a long length, then gradually smaller and smaller lengths and stack them on top of each other (and fix it all together). Dead simple. Alternatively, these could be handy. http://washford.scene7.com/is/image/Washford/218438?$prod$

Dnk
Yes thats the kit i would buy then your pretty much covered, i'd get the advanced screwdriver set as well The wooden ramps are the way to go, those horrid metal things are hard work getting a car on them as they tend to slide away as you drive up them. The wooden ones dont move and you can make them as tall as you like Edited May 30, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Supra Gaz
As has been said, halfords advanced stuff is top quality, I managed to break a ratchet spanner and they just swapped it in store no questions asked. Happy days.
