Essential Tools needed to work on a Supra?

Right so now I'm starting to look at what sort of tools I need to work on my Supra, I know I need some sort of Engine crane, so at some point soon I can drop the engine and replace the core plugs on the car.

But I'm wondering what else I need. I'm guessing a good ratchet set and torque wrench is a must, and also some sort of ramp to raise the car up, or is it best to just go with Axel stands all round?

So could someone recommend me some essential and good quality, but reasonably price tools so I can start looking after my car myself, rather having to take it to the garage everytime something goes wrong or theres something I want done to the car, thanks for any help in advanced. :)

I use axel stands, but a ramp would make life easier.

As much as people shun Halfrauds, their top of the range tools are really good imo

What about a ramp like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005BP3QLO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A1ZJMLYSB2VD63

and because my car has been lowered, I'd assume I'd need something like these as well http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005BP3QW8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=A35OVVHXU8VITD

and really? Ah well I might go and take a drive over to halfords and have a look for a good ratchet set and torque wrench

No Supra will be able to make use of those types of ramps, most average cars can't in my experience. Buy some wide wooden planks, chop them up into a long length, then gradually smaller and smaller lengths and stack them on top of each other (and fix it all together). Dead simple.

Alternatively, these could be handy.

Have a look on the Halfords website, i have some of there Advanced profesional tools

and im very happy with them, plus they have a lifetime guarantee :)

If i were you i'd buy one of their kits and then its all in a nice carrying case and you dont

lose tools so easily, the big set they do in a plastic carry case is 150 piece for £99.99

My car is pretty low so to help getting a jack under it i made 2 very simple wooden ramps

Is this the one you where talking about mate http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173083_langId_-1_categoryId_255215

Think I shall go and get one of those. Yeah depends what's more expensive, those plastic ones that SteveR showed me or just get some wood and nail a couple together.

Yes thats the kit i would buy then your pretty much covered, i'd get the advanced screwdriver set as well :)

The wooden ramps are the way to go, those horrid metal things are hard work getting a car on them

as they tend to slide away as you drive up them. The wooden ones dont move and you can make them

as tall as you like :)
