Iky Posted May 26, 2012 Share Posted May 26, 2012 They can if it's not been done up tight enough. Probably best off doing an oil change at the same time. Get a new oem filter from Toyota. A thin smear or new oil on the new filter o-ring and tighten until the seal makes contact and then anothe 1/4-1/2 turn. Chris Wilson Posted May 27, 2012 Share Posted May 27, 2012 (edited) He said "everywhere", but is probably prone to exaggeration It is sometimes possible for the old filter to leave its sealing ring stuck to the Modine unit, and the new one to then be sat on TWO sealing rings. The one against the Modine then blows out at a later stage. If it does this the filter will probably then feel loose. Worth checking. The other day it sprayed out all over the side of my engine bay i ran it today for a hour in the garage and no leaks so far i wonder if it only comes out when its being revved hard im not sure the 2jz gte is very new to me lol thanks for the advice guys:) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Start 'er up and rev 'er 'ard! When I changed my oil filter, I took the old one off, made sure the o ring was still in there, then scraped the mating area with a screwdriver (carefully) to make sure it was clean before fitting the new one Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
