Paul
Need some help, I spilt water on my laptop keyboard last night, tried to dry it out today with a few blasts of air and it still don't work. I've since taken the keyboard out of the machine and cleaned with IPA (not the beer). TBH I think it's knackered as it just locks onto a number and repeats, no control at all. I'm now using an external keyboard and all works OK. Is there anything else I can do or is the keyboard shot? I know how to change it now so maybe replacing is an option? The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite BTW. Thanks.
Branners
I usually leave a soaked keyboard by a radiator for at least 3 days before trying to use it again. Usually enough time to dry it out properly. The main problem is that all the dust and crud gets washed past the dust seals and kills the keyboard that way. Perhaps leave it to dry a little longer. Paul
With it removed I've run warm air over it, maybe it's got past the seals as you say. Looking on Ebay and using the more credible UK sellers they seem to be around the mid £20 mark so might go this route after giving it a few days. Are the symptoms of sticking/repeating keys etc pointing towards the keyboard being the issue?
Guigsy
Not usualy difficult to replace yourself. Or get someone to charge you over the odds for them to do it.
Jata
As above I'd give it more time mate. I spilled an entire cup of coffee on mine once when I was unexpectedly dive bombed by a Crane fly! I left it keyboard down for a few days and it was fine. What have you got to lose?
