Suspension clonk - sub frame?

So i posted up a while back about my supe tramlining, went to get the tracking done and the guy said the subframe was moving. Had a look on here and subframe bolts were the first thing on the list...gave them a go with the good old torque wrench to the right torque mentioned in the repair manuals, did the front and the rear. Tbh the bolts didnt turn that much until they hit the required torque, so they were pretty much ok to begin with.

 

Now the problem is that under relatively heavy breaking, i get a loud clonk from what seems to be the front left...sometimes in reverse gear too. The only two subframe bolts i have not yet touched are the deep socket ones - these two have not yet been tightened. Is this what is causing my supe to clonk and tramline?

They're the ones more likely to be loose, you'll probably be able to see where the alloy frame has moved by looking where it meets the rail.

 

For reasons I don't understand, water collects above those 4 nuts and can cause corrosion seizing the nut onto the bolt.

 

This can lead you to believe these captive-bolts are tight, :think: but they're not.

 

To check they're not seized, one at a time, remove the nuts and refit with copper-slip.

 

This will ensure they're properly tight and not just pretending to be and it also protects the threads from oxidizing and seizing in the future.
