listy
Anyone got any recommendations of how to get rid of moss in the lawn? Have tried a couple of different treatments, but dont seem to work!!! I cant re-turf the lawn, as its a Forces property, and a waste of my time and money, as at some point, I'll be leaving the house and end up somewhere else. Any treatments people have used that worked? Also, have an Ant problem. This comes back every summer, no matter what we do. We tried the boiling water, poison gels, powders, sprays, everything we can think of. I think the problem is that the nest lies under the patio, but again, being a Forces property, I cant just lift the patio to get at it. Anyone had similar problems and have a solution that works? Ricky49
I had the same problem in my garden years ago, it was due to the fact the area of grass was on the blind side of the sun by my neighbours fence. After a couple of lawn feed and moss killer every couple of weeks for 6 weeks it bounced back and was like new again. I have just leveled and returfed so will have the same problem soon me thinks. But i will try and feed it before it starts to turn.
sideexitsupra
Start with an electric lawn rake / scerifier (?) to remove the moss and also all the old thatch left in the lawn. Then use an all purpose feed and weed for lawns and it should recover fine. I have to do this every year with part of my back lawn shaded by the fence to next door. Failing that you could use a flame thrower to get rid of the moss and the ants!
Homer
I have both those problems with my lawn this time of year! A good quality lawn fertiser usually sorts out the moss issue, Everygreen usually does the trick. One thing I have found is not to cut the grass so short before the winter, if you do the moss sets in very easily. Leave it longer and it won't have so much chance to grow. As for ants, I've been using generic ant powder, but needs to be re-done every week to keep the buggers away.
RobUK
I just pay green thumb about £40 a quarter... But I have a large garden so I guess it might be less.. After 2 treatments the lawn was looking great... I just pay them to maintain it now... Well worth the money especially as we have 2 dogs... Colin-mkiv
pour cellulose thinners between the cracks of the patio every day for a week....it'll get rid of them and they wont come back cos the thinners will be unbearable for them.
SupraP-Z
Chilli powder will also do the job, just sprinkle and wait
