marc_p
Hey guys, took the supra out today and it appears the car has developed a slight misfire when the second turbo comes in, however, this is drastically reduced when I switch the boost controller off, I'd like to think its the plugs but they weren't replaced that long ago iirc, also it was fine last weekend for japfest literally just started doing it. Any thoughts? I leave for dragonball tomorrow and kinda like it sorted before I go.
Noz
Can you smell fuel? When mine mis-fire's all I can smell is fuel, giving signs of overfueling. Withou an AFR gauge it's hard to tell the signs.
marc_p
No, no smell of fuel, can't see it being overfueling as that would surely still do it when I run lower boost, the only thing I can think of is spark plugs, I'm on my phone at the mo and can't search but could someone post up the best spark plugs for a bpu supra and I'll see if my mate can pick them up from a halfords on the way to mine. Nic
Most common causes of misfire at high boost pressures are wrong heat range plugs, worn plugs, wrongly gapped plugs or broken coil pack connectors. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?61141-How-To-Refurbish-coil-pack-connectors&highlight=plugs http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?41927-FAQ-Spark-plugs&highlight=plugs Edited May 16, 2012 by Nic (see edit history)
Swampy442
+1 for coil packs or connectors.
Guigsy
Yep. Had it on mine. Had an iffy coil pack.
Guest Budz86
I had a little oil that had found its way into the chamber with the spark plugs. Whipped the plug out, wiped the oil up, plug went back in and and she was fine! Failing that, CP clips
Hellstrom
Coilpacks, coilpacks clips, spark plugs thats what i would check. if you can pinnpoint the cylinder miss firing (if its just one) i would remove the coilpack and take the connectors by hand and se if it sits good on the coil.
