Bagci
Can anyone help? When the wheels are turned to full lock there is a whining noise? Only at full lock?! Would it be the power steering Pump? Any advice appreciated! Josh.
Nic
if you're lucky it'll just be air in the PAS (Power Assisted Steering) system due to low fluid level, it explains how to bleed air out of the system here http://www.turbosupras.com/pdfs/JZA80%20TSRM/SR.pdf If that doesn't cure the noise then it could be the pump/bearing on it's way out. Lude
does it whine when you are just turning the wheel? or do you mean a slight grunt when it wont turn any more?
Swampy442
If its on full lock and only on full lock then it's normal. Edited May 16, 2012 by Swampy442 (see edit history)
Chris Wilson
NEVER hold any PAS hard against the lock stops, especially OLD PAS systems. the system pressure rises to the level the blow off valve is set to, but sometimes they are sticky or seized. It's VERY bad practice and can result in blown rack seals, blown hoses etcetera. Plus the valve makes an annoying noise ....
