local garage are doing the install and nope was not a vvti befor

Surely its up to the local garage to sort it, are they a MKIV specialist?

It could be any number of things, was new oil and filter replaced before starting, or the fluid levels all checked?

Does the throttle butterfly open and close when you press the accelerator? Get them to scpe the signal from the MAF sensor at the ecu. No throttle is usually MAF sensor or DBW throttle actuation trouble. Is the loom, engine, ecu and MAF sensor all matching? have they got facilities to check VVTi functionality? Not many garages have the slightest clue.

yes the butterfly opens and closers when pressing on the accelerator. The loom / engine / maf senors are all matching. The engine and loom and ecu came together.

The problem is after tonight - when starting up start first time its just like it wants to stall it self. after checking boost pipes / throttle butterfly / and making sure eall wireing loom is plugged in - it stil lwants to die - its like its misfiring and cuts out.

After is starts if you press the accelerator - its dies but some times if you on and off the accelerator quickly it will start to rev up but sounds very lumpy - like its missing firing. Tonight the garage got it going for about 10mins... revving up aswell... but didnt sound right at all... its was back firing and smoke was coming from the exhaust. also the cat started to glow red - which if im correct indicates over fueling ?

The over fueling can be the only thing i can think of now as its seems like its not to sure what it wants more air and less fuel or more air and less fuel.

To be hoenst i'm running out of idea's as i keep searching and searching what it could be / thoerys behind if its doing this then this must not be right etc etc ... i really dont know.

Did you connect the Blue-Red pin on the lower fusebox connector? If not, you have to do so. You can locate it on here.

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?232824-J-Spec-Engine-Harness-Connector-Details&p=3030539&viewfull=1#post3030539

You will need to rework the fusebox and put a 15A fuse for this wire if you haven't.

Was the TPS removed or moved? If yes, it has to be adapted again.

First of all you will need to put it back in position. To do so, you will need to take a multimeter and connect to VTA and GND somewhere on the car. Rotate the TPS till you get 0.6-0.7V on cold engine (0.65-0.75V on warm engine) reading. You will find the VTA pin on here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?232824-J-Spec-Engine-Harness-Connector-Details&p=3277822&viewfull=1#post3277822

Then put the turn key to ON without starting the car and hit the acceleration pedal to the floor, keep it that way for 30s to a min. You will hear a buzzing sound. Your TPS will adapt to the ECU. Then turn the key to off and then start the car. Btw make sure to clean the throttle butterfly REALLY WELL before doing all this.

Also check the coils for oil/water and if they are connected properly. They are pretty tricky. Of course you have to check the condition of the spark plugs.

Check these and tell me if there is any result.

There was 2 plus from the main fuse box that plug into the engine loom. One fits perfect but you have hard wire the other one

we have done this and car starts ok now and is running and holding revs

on little test run the car wont rev above 3k revs and bottles out

so now we are going to make sure maf and induction hard pipe and kit is all tight and secure

as could this be the problem

Hi mate when i did my engine change to the vvti I had to have it tuned to get it to run right but I had auto ecu and had a new helteck ecu with maps and stuff

And my vvti tb is a fly by wire not dbw

Are u 100% sure it's a dbw not a fbw

Thanks Luke
