Nodalmighty
Writing software for FOBT's (Fixed on line betting terminals) is NOT where I expected to be at 41 going on 42. My 5 years experience with motor sport / tuning wasn't the best but car tuning / electronics / software is definitely where I want to be. I would start my own business but don't have any start up capital so I'm a bit snookered on that front. I have plenty of tuning companies who want me to work for them but not for the right money. What to do, what to do Lyndon.
Gaz6002
Develop a unique product, sell it, build a business? I know you have the ability to do that. It won't happen overnight though.
tomgeer
Money isn't everything, maybe for the sake of your mental well being you would be better working some place you enjoyed rather than suffering 40+ hours a week somewhere you don't. I earn nearly 10k a year less in the job i'm in now than I did 6 years ago contracting but i'm happier, and wouldn't go back by choice. tomgeer
What do you do? I was a contractor (pipe fitter) at Sellafield, now i'm working for a small agricultural engineers, there's only 12 of us, I started as a welder/fabricator but don't often put the overalls on now, doing more of the organising and paperwork side as we've got busier over the last few years. No more overtime or 12 hour shifts for me, just 8am-5pm mon-fri Caesard, you definitely don't want me as a cook, unless you want chicken or jacket potatoes every night

Again, electronics engineers seem to be fairly strong. The options are there mate, just make that leap - but due dilligence: have three to six months bills in the bank. If you do go contracting, I can certainly help you with some contacts for HMRC-compliant schemes.

Already on that one. It's finding the time to work on it that's the trick. I was thinking of setting up a business converting wiring looms for people who fit silly engine in the Supra's like 1uz-fe's and 1jz-gte's. Christ, i must have the most Toyota loom knowledge of any one the amount of conversions I've done over the years for Thor, Rogue and Silverline Racing (1G-GTE into a Lexus IS200, no problem sir). Also wiring in ecu's and getting them running on basic road maps ready for Ryan to map them proper. Lyndon.
