mellonman
your best to go straight to the turbo pressure first of all to the bottom of the waste gate NO boost controler this is so you know for a fact what is giving you the issue, Because at the end of the day it used to work correctly and then stopped so you now need to find that propblem and over come it accordingly. i would want to know that the wastegate works correctly before manipulating it IMO
Pig
Ok, done as suggested. Just wastegates. Turbo feed to bottom of wastegates. Left the top hoses off and then blocked then off. This didn't seem to make any difference. Boosting to 1.3. Next step is to plumb turbo feed and bottom into the IN of the boost controller and the top of the wastegates to see what happens - with b/c set on 0. I don't know how to turn it off... mellonman
hang on mate sounds like you got that slightly wrong, just connect the bottoms to the turbo feed and leave the tops able to breath IE dont block them.(as this could allow for a resistance preasure) and if you still make high boost that way then your wastegates might be the problem. do you know what the wastegate spring preasure is ment to be? Pig
Did it both ways. 1 with the tops going to atmosphere and 1 with it blocked. With it open it boosted to 1.3 bar. Seems odd as I thought I had a 1 bar spring. Main the being that the boost is under control. Now it's time to start with the boost controller. Just having tyres fitted then will be ready to find out if it is fixed or not. (fingers crossed) If it works then I assume there was a pipe split... If not the the bc it is. mellonman
if your making a solid 1.3 maybe the springs are 1.3 you never know, i take it you have checked the turbo preasure reveance for leaks? it does seem high wastegate preasure my apexi avcr can only start to control boost after 20% so would sit you around 1.6 not sure how you managed to get the boost down to 0.9 with the boost controller but even if the worst come to the worst you can just sit at the 1.3 wastegate boost
Chris Wilson
Motec do a great series of videos on wastegate control plumbing. http://www.motec.com.au and look for Webinars. Get rid of that blue silicone junk, any hose in a wastegate set up that needs tie wraps to hold it on is a disaster in the offing. use proper black rubber hose from the likes of Gates, none textile braided silicone, like most of the junk in small bore sizes is prone to splitting from the cut end, or blowing off. Jellybean
Chris If I was to change all my Vacuum hoses would you recommend the Hose Techniques Kit?
Chris Wilson
No, I recommend either OE Toyota ones on a stock TT setup, or Gates or similar branded hose off the reel, of the right ID and wall construction, cut to length. That small bore blue *%it is the triumph of the advertising department over all common sense. It's junk. Simple as that.

I think it will have been what I suspect was the route of the whole problem. A loose pipe. I have now plumbed the boost controller back in and it is working perfectly! Thank you so much, not only did you both help me fix the car before the dragonball but helped me learn how the wastegates and boost controller works. I can't explain how much I appreciate it. Chris - thank you for this input. I did wonder when I was a halfords in the stick on Corsa crap section if I was better off just buying fuel hose. I will have a google and get it replaced with some decent pipe as you have suggested. Thanks Edited May 17, 2012 by Pig (see edit history)

Jellybean
Pig, I am trying to get SRD or Whifbitz to make up a Kit for the Supra! Maybe Chris would like to? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?263217-Group-buy-ideas/page14 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?250640-SRD-New-Products-and-suggestions/page8

I would need about 12 hoses of random lengths and 4 T pieces. I am just going to get the tape measure out and order away. Happy to order with you if you want to try and get a bulk buy discount. I probably won't do till next year though as I have a gearbox and diff that I want to buy first.

Chris Wilson
If you have a Wurth distributor (often van based like Snap On reps) they do great hose by the reel. That's what i use here, Wurth.
