stevie_b
I have a 2nd hand supra heater matrix, but I want to confirm whether it's a genuine Toyota one or not. The matrix looks exactly like the left-hand one in this photo: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=145823&d=1328616146 I've pulled the photo from another thread on here, but it shows a non-genuine matrix on the left compared to a Toyota matrix on the right. So far, it seems like mine is also non-genuine, but is it possible that Toyota re-designed the matrix part-way through the Supra's production to look like the left-hand one (e.g. less rows)? Does anyone on here know, or know how to find out with some degree of certainty? I would ask a Toyota dealer but they tend to be franchises these days with no access to obscure parts unless they're paid for. The reason for my question is that I want to change the matrix in my car, but due to the difficulty of this job I want to be 100% happy with what I'll be fitting. I only intend to do it once! Thanks in advance.

If it was genuine there would be a toyota part number stamped on it or at least toyota stamped on it I would have thought
James
Ah, that pic of mine is becoming famous Yeah, demisterman one on the left. It has been that long since having the working OEM unit that I cannot recall how much "better" it was. I'm happy with the aftermarket one
stevie_b
I've had a good look at mine and there's no Toyota part number. No markings at all in fact apart from a small sticker with some anonymous digits on it. HateEvent: does your heater take long to heat up? And it sounds like the heat output is good? James
No, not at all. I'll time it next time I'm using the car in fact! I'll turn the ignition, bang the heaters on full whack and sit idle and see how long it takes to get heating for you
Nic
Steve to answer you pm question, the part number (87107‑14190) for the heater matrix is the same on all Supra years/models
