listy
Really want to do this as my rears look slightly out of place right now. Anyone got any recommendeations as to what to use? Found THIS stuff. Its E-Tech Black Smoke Light Tinting Spray. Thinking it could be a much cheaper replacement for C-West light covers. Anyone got any experience with it? I dont want to buy it just to find out its useless.
abtin90
Scott M had done a really nice job on his and they looked flawless, may be worth sending him a pm. Also tinted rear lights do pop up from time to time in the for sale section so it could be worth a wait, rather than risking your own set if you havent done it before
DaveR
I did mine with that exact spray (pics in my garage). Just spend a decent amont of time on prep work. If you're looking to go really quite dark, like mine, you'll need about four cans. Once it's all on and dried be prepared to put in the elbow grease T-cutting the whole thing to get the required gloss look, rather than a chalky matt "this has been done at home" look! I used black T-cut then regular for the final shine. Good luck! It's not especially hard, just time consuming.
mattdavies
You could always use some Lamin-X as this stuff is removable if/when you dont like it.
Phillyskate0
I got a few tins of this lying around if you wanna buy one? never used obviously lol Or tint film, got plenty of that
listy
Had a look at the Lamin-x stuff. Looks pretty good. I have tinting film already, but not sure if the light would come through well enough as its limo black. Or if it will go round the corners nicely enough. I might just have a look and see what the light looks like through that before buying anything else. The Lamin-x looks like much less of a chore than the spray though. mattdavies
Lamin-x when heated become stretchy and so if you take you time, while its heated you can mould it round. Also any small air bubbles after a while come out as it breathes. I had the yellow stuff for my headlights on a Polo and it was great due to the fact i removed it when i wanted to sell the car. Simply pull it off and a quick wipe with thinners to get rid of any residue and i was back to standard light.
