Eddie-S
I've just been suit shopping for work and as above M&S have some reasonably priced suits £100-£150 that will do the job. They only had dwarf size trousers in though so ended up up with a nice Ted Baker number from Moss Bros as well. 1 for the price of 2 1/2! Next also had some more 'relaxed' fit suits in so worth a look
Fitz
Good Places from my point of view would be, M&S, TM Lewin or Austin
j_jza80
Christ Jay. I couldn't imagine sending that on a suit. I go for £100 to £150 at a push. That said, I can go from being in a nice office speaking to customers to climbing all over a dusty plant room in no time. Not worth me buying a decent suit. H. Don't get me wrong, I also have a Matalan one that cost me £80 I'd normally spend a bit more to get something nice, but tbh I thought a few hundred quid was cheap for a suit! mine get worn at the races and that's generally about it
Jimmy James
House of Fraser had some nice ones that didn't make my size 13's look like boats
Abz
iv given up with next now. they used to be good for shirts and trousers. but they only sell stupid slim fit fashionable hipster suits that are not comfortable for sitting in all day. the shirts also are made for people with tiny necks. they also refuse to acknowledge people taller than 6ft exist. im only 6'3" and i had to get them to order some trousers in for me because the closes length they could find in the store were a good 4 inches off from what i needed. and then when they arrived the waist was a good 2 sizes smaller than what i normaly wair (despite them showing the correct size on the label). so when i finaly got a pair that fitted in length and waist they were so rediculously tight arround my thighs i almost split the seams when i sat down.... useless. The best, most comfortable, well fitting suit trousers and shirts iv baught in the last few years have been from tesco... Yep, you are certainly right there, they do more fashionable suits nowadays. Like you said some of my 'normal' sizes were too tight so I have had to order a size up. But they do make some great suits for the price. tooquicktostop
Lads on our stag week in Bangkok in April had hand made suits made, I was sceptical so did not bother, bugger me they were stunning, £60 each with 4 shirts, they are big chaps as well (rugby team) so always struggle to get off the peg, you can get fully measured and get them from India/Asia over the net
sdistc
Anyone hoping for a Ted Baker suit, I say good luck to you, sir! These are the classic slim-fit size-zero-wannabe cuts that no-one who works out will fit into. Beautiful styling, yes... but not particularly practical. Unless of course, you want to take one on special in TKMaxx and get a tailor to completely resew it. And for that amount of hassle, may as well get one tailored from scratch. marbleapple
I go to a place called Slaters. Bit like Moss Bros. They measure you up and recommend brands and cuts. It helps to have some one who know what they are doing. They also adjust the suit free of charge to fit you. Wouldn't touch Next, M&S or any high street superstore as the quality is usually rubbish and the fit isn't right. I tend to pay £400 for a decent suit for the office, don't want to pay more than that. Make sure you get now shoes to match.. I recommend Loakes. James
I picked up a nice Ted Baker suit from Slaters last week. With a new pair of shoes (loakes, so not the cheapest), shirt and tie it came to about £300-£350 all in I think. There were a couple of cheaper options that were nice as well. It is comfortable and looks good, can't ask for much more.
Jamesy
Is slaters down south or do you need to buy online?
James
Canterbury & Basingstoke are the 2 closest Slaters to you. About what, 70 miles either way or so?
hemmjonny
I have had a few suits from Burton and there very good for not a lot of money.
grahamc
I use a place called Wakefields (in Horsham) they stock all the named brands. I got my Armani suit (best suit I have ever worn) and my work suits (Hugo boss). The guys are very good at fitting a suit to your shape. And they listen when you say you have a budget. I went back after the Armani suit to buy some cheaper work suits and ended up with 2 Hugo boss suits and spare trousers. They will also tailor to your needs. I am tempted by a bespoke suit, but going to wait and go for one of the proper savile row tailors - 10 weeks to make But all depends on your budget. I tried moss bros and hated the fit of the suits. marbleapple
Is slaters down south or do you need to buy online? I wouldn't buy a decent suit online. How would they measure you or adjust it to fit you better?
