gazzi123
HI all, im really stuck - i want to make my standard looking is200 headlights look like this....but i dont know what the hell to do? Spray inner lights gunmetal grey/black - with a light black tint film and remove 'tango' indicators.....??? Dont know where to start? any help would be much appreciated or if there is someone out there , that does specialise in light conversions ......or can do it for me if it needs specialised treatment of some sort. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS200-00-05-OS-Headlight-/140746051342?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20c51e4f0e - STANDARD LOOKING HEADLIGHTS http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/7792/6520092e.jpg - WHAT I WANT THEM TO LOOK LIKE Edited May 9, 2012 by gazzi123 (see edit history)
SupraP-Z
Hey Bud, i would have been able to do these for you...you shouldve mentioned it!! lol. Saying that, it shouldnt be too hard...just take the headlights apart as you would for the supra (Oven treatment or hot air gun to soften the sealent, then pry the lens apart) scotch pad or lightly score the surface of the chrome inserts, get a good plastic primer (white or grey) dust on a few light coats, then layer on 1 or 2 good coats. Sand back any overspray or runs with 1200/1500grit wet and dry...allow to dry, then your ready for your topcoat. Whichever colour you go for gunmetal grey or black, spray it the same as you did the primer - dust on the coats at first, and then go for it. Im not 100% sure about de-tangoeing the indicators, but i think with the is200 you just remove the orange indicator lens (it should just pull out) - but you will have to change the bulb,so it flashes orange. Even better i found this guide on the lexus forums: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?app=tutorials&article=118 As for tinting the headlight, its not too hard...make sure the headlight is squeaky clean, get a light tint film, use a concoction of soapy water, spray the headlight and tint film....place the film on top of the headlight. Get it aligned properly, get a blade and cut to size. Remove sticky back film, spray more soapy water and place the film on top of the headlight again, and squeegee out all the moisture! That was a very vague guide, but ill link you to a youtube vid so you can see how they do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiJsoHMsc_8 HTH bud Edited May 9, 2012 by SupraP-Z Found a how-to guide on lexus forums (see edit history)
