Whitesupraboy2
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4745041.stm As it says in the story 2 people have been sent down for making illegal copies of films, music and games. Not sure of total time for husband as he had a previous sentence but its 6months for the wife.

Pete
Let's make it clear that they were selling these copies. It's unbelievable the number of people that think they can get away with flogging DVDs and games off car boot stalls. They're very organised around here and ready to scarper at the slightest warning from their watchers. Fistfulls of cash change hands for doing nothing other than taking a 'risk'. It's about time these people were sent to prison.

Guest chiefvinso
I suppose noone has ever made copies of something and passed onto their friends? I dont think its right, but with this country being such a ripoff its no wonder theres a market for knock offs.
Jake
2 people have been sent down for making illegal copies of films, music and games. No they haven't. As Pete said, they've sent to prison for SELLING pirated copies. Big difference IMHO. These people were doing it for a living and claiming benefits! Serves the right, the greedy buggers. This pretty much sums it up: "These offenders were not only riding on the back of the creative industries but also lining their pockets with taxpayers' money," said Elspa's deputy director general Michael Rawlinson. Guest chiefvinso
I agree too but when are they going to be able to solve proper crimes, drugs, murder - these peeps are just small potatoes compared to what is really going on out there. You'll probably find this is why people get away with selling copyrighted material. It's pretty low on the agenda.
womble
These people were doing it for a living and claiming benefits! Serves the right, the greedy buggers. I agree that it serves them right. The irony though is that it probably costs the tax payer far more to keep them in prison than it did them claiming benefits and whilst they were earning money outside it was getting spent somewhere !!!. Crazy world eh !!.

Not saying in this instance but I know of one group of far east persuasion, that do piracy and some of the above. Its big money, much easier than getting 100 kilo's of coke through liverpool docks:D Anyway Fantastic Four was poo poo, I'd be gutted if I had paid 8 quid to see that!
