NOODLE
after starting my car this morning my car sounded like it was farting bubbles under the dash so i turned it off straight away i spoke to a mechanic and i described what was wrong to him he advised me to call the AA as it would do damage to drive it. the AA guy did a head gasket test and the chemical he used turned green confirming that there was exhaust gases in the cooling system. he then told me that he used to work at a Toyota specialist when he was younger and had seen NA supra's blow there gaskets a lot. whether this is true or not im not sure but he told me that "after 70,000miles the head gasket would go" and then said mine could well be on the second gasket already. is there any proof of what this guy is saying because im unsure and if its true then im unsure whether to change the gasket or change the engine to a younger one. any ideas any help would be great :-)
TheTurtleshead
The Mark 3's suffer from headgasket issues, notoriously so! The Mark 4's however do not, 2JZ's are stupendously reliable if looked after, the fact that yours has gone after relatively little miles suggest it hasn't been cared for be a previous owner. TheTurtleshead
You will have to have the head skimmed when the gasket is done, they are 99% of the time not flat. It's also worth getting the garage to flush the coolant system properly at the same time.
SilentAgro
It would probably be cheaper to change the whole engine.

Mr Cull
Possibly air in the system?? Not uncommon problem. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?229009-Waterfall-noise-behind-dash/page2 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?104635-Heater-Matrix-I-can-hear-the-water!&highlight=gurgling+dash
NOODLE
no definitely head gasket its being pressurized by the exhaust gases and throwing the water out of the overflow pipe. plus the AA guy checked for exhaust gases before agreeing to take my car home

Colin-mkiv
My rad was pressurising up and forcing coolant out of the overflow/expansion bottle, I fitted a new rad cap and it's not doing it any more and the temps stay just below midway on the guage. bigbloodyturbo
When i blew my HG it was torn between the cylinder and the water jacket causing an overpressure in the coolant, pissed coolany out the overflow tank aswell, just make sure and check your rad after you've build it all back up as mine had cracked down the side of the rad cap neck due to pressure. It was weeping untill one day I was fault finding something else and it split good & proper and it looked like a fountain of coolant landing all over my throttle body and intake. The heater matrix is known to go after time. Check the carpet in the passenger footwell to see if it's wet.
