far
I got some video footage and I had an idea that I would play the dvd through the PC (USING POWER DVD)and pause it and hit CTRL & PRT_SCrN buttons to grab images off the video to put on my website, problem is whenever I grab an image and paste it into paint it doesnt grab the whole image and once I remove the dvd even though I have saved the image in a folder when I go back into it to view the image its just all black - can anyone she some light on this mysterious problem? Clarkey
Copy protection maybe ? SnagIt will do the job you want tho. I think it's shareware.
far
it cant be copy protection though dude because it is video footage taken at one of my exhibitions and I paid the cameraman! I will do a search for SnagIt

Clarkey
With SnagIt you just draw a square around what you want to copy. Maybe PowerDVD has the copy protection not the DVD itself ?
far
ok dude tried the snaggit software - really neat! but it didnt work - same problem, as soon as I removed the dvd the pictures that are there which I save turn black. Im going to try and play the dvd through another programme and see how that works
Clarkey
Hmm .. not sure if that will work either. I'm watching FMJ via a AVI file. Did a PRNT screen and copied it paint. Came up Black just like yours. Howabout ripping the DVD to an AVI .. then using a simple AVI Editor .. and using SnagIT grab the frames you want ? carl0s
you can't screen-capture a video because it's not actually on the screen. What is on the screen is just a square in a special "key" colour, which looks like black. It's a bit like how genlocks used to work for video-overlay. Oh yeah, it's called "overlay" mode Having said that, if you could disable hardware acceleration and overlays in Powerdvd, you may be in with a chance. There is however software out there which will allow you to scan through a movie and save out frames as images. I dont' know of any examples though as it's not something I've ever done. far
this is very strange indeed and I have never come across is before - it seems like everytime I have more than 3 pictures 'grabbed' when I go to grab the fourth it overwrites the last one, not allowing me to grab more than 3 pics at a time - has anyone come across this? far
ah - ok Carlos - I understand but it seems to be letting me grab pictures - just not more than 3 - weird Clarkey I wouldnt have a clue how to rip the dvd to AVI

Bloody well done James dude 'capture video' key did the trick (like you said - little camera) - lets me grab any images I want and its not blanking over previous images either
