Jellybean
Just looking at wheeler dealers XK8 Jag, I like how they de-carbonise the Engine! http://www.terraclean.co.uk/ 5VCuki_-vXQ

Wez
I just leaner on cruise / off boost to burn the deposits off, although you need a replacement ECU for this.
Robzki
hmmmm, I would think that after having this done I would get some magnets to fit on the fuel pipes to improve fuel consumption.
Supra N_A
was going to make a thread up about this but already been done! would be ideal to do on the supra I think! replacement ecu ???
Jellybean
I dont know if it is the product improving the emissions or the fact the engine was cold on the intial test then on the second test he had a nice hot engine, cat Am I mistaken of do most petrol stations/ suppliers not run fuel additivies to achieve this? Westy
Interesting stuff. Those were good improvements after such a simple process!

Jellybean
FYI-- The main advantages are smoother running of the engine and original compression being restored.
mellonman
a de coked engine will be less prone to pre det due to the hot spots it can cause
jazz1
Same as snow foam, but instead I used auto-rx which restored my compression from 90 I think.

Supra Gaz
Same as snow foam, but instead I used auto-rx which restored my compression from 90 I think. I wouldn't put snow foam in your engine, do you mean seafoam? edit; jellybean beat me too it. By several hours.
Delboy52
There's a motorsport garage near me that does this. Wondered if anyone had done it to their Supra? This guy did it to his 94 Cavalier turbo. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=266518&highlight=engine+clean
imi
Anyone tried this on their supra, or any other car for that matter?
SpeedyAndy
Anyone tried this on their supra, or any other car for that matter? just wondering this myself?
Wez
Anyone tried this on their supra, or any other car for that matter? Shouldnt really be a prob for you Imi, with an aftermarket ECU you can run leaner on cruise and off boost to burn up any excess.
imi
Agree Waz, that should certainly assist the supra - think Ryan programmed a lean setting.....will check with him. This was more for my wife's and my dads car.
Al Massey
I have used this on a few cars now http://www.ecotekplc.com/PowerBoost.htm And have seen with my own eyes the crap that comes out of the exhaust. Was really impressed and the engine was smoother and more responsive. It takes two people to do it, one to rev the engine at 2k and the other to spray it. I would recommend this happily, tried it on the supra and some soot and carbon flew out but not a lot compared to my old xr2i
mellonman
yes but all that cack has to come through a turbo spinning at 20,000 rpm or somthing like that , i would of thought anything other then a gas going through would cause damage
Ian C
The crap that comes out the exhaust is probably the crap that you're spraying into the intake after it's been through the combustion process. Without empirical evidence I'll consider all things like this, especially from that company, as snake oil. Love this on the Ecotek blurb about how awesomez the product is: "It has increased the car's fuel economy by a good two or three pence per gallon" Has it now

And the crap that came flying out was flakes of carbon, and lots of it. How about the evidence of myself and my dad absolutely shocked at how this worked? And so well? TubbyTwo
Would I actually make any difference on our cars constantly run on super unleaded though? An old high mileage derv perhaps, but im not 100% convinced.

How about the evidence of myself and my dad absolutely shocked at how this worked? And so well? Well hard carbon flakes I expect will do damage to the turbo if water meth pre turbo can erode fins and I have seen what a load o oil can do when my second turbo let go its not good , I will dig out the thread of my hybrids that got destroyed http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?256601-does-det-make-its-way-back-to-the-turbo&highlight=turbo Edited January 21, 2013 by mellonman (see edit history)
