Roy
hi guys - had a quick question. as i have been driving the supra over the last few days, i've been sort of keeping a ear out for any possible 'funny' noises that would indicate that something needs fixin'. as i pulled out of the carpark, i heard a strange whiney noise coming from the rear right wheel well that sort of becomes apparent at only certain revolutions. i kinda suspect slightly warped discs but was wondering if there could be any other possibles ? thanks... Guest Usmann A
Had the same problem mate,(well I think it was the same)It had a little whine and as you said at certain revolution, well found that It was coming from the silver dustcover on the bearing. When the wheel is off, they should be a silver metal shell, coverin the middle of the hub, this had a split metal pin, wich may need to be pushed back up against the dust cover. This was the remedy for us,give it a go,take the wheel off,and if you finda that the cover is loose, move it about if it makes a similar noise then you've go the bugger. Im not saying this is your problem, just giving advice to what problem we had,and hope It helps you narrow down what your noise might be if its different. Not sure otherwise..waiting for the Techies to come through!
Roy
just out of curiosity, did the speed of that whine increase with the revs ? mine seems to match the tyre revolutions. will check on that pesky dust cover - thanks for the info...... Guest Usmann A
Yep it did, to a crertain limit,as the exhaust would take over, had to jack the rear up and spin the wheels slowly.to find out what it was. Normal driving was able to hear it,making noise between equal intevals, suggesting it was moving in accordance with the wheel, like you said. Thanks Usmann
