What is it about the Supra that attracts muppets to think they have to overtake you?

This is the guy to blame

There is swearing in it so excuse that but frankly it is the only video I can think of that gives the NA a harder plight than the dodo.

Got to be something wrong with that supra to be beat by a saxo lol. Mechanical or bad driving....

almost back on topic...

it's not the people who want to race all the time that bother me... it's the people who look in their rear view mirror and see a performance car and then deliberately drive as slowly as possible

Do our NA's count as performance?

If you drive an NA in anger around the B roads in Manu mode, its a pretty capable beast!!! At least you dont have to worry too much about facing the wrong way all of the time!

How many of you Turbo guys ever get to exploit the full potential of all that power? Rarely I'll wager. If I get the chance I kick my NA'S @rse around my favourite bendy bits safe in the knowledge that if it dies I can get an engine for pennies and be back out in a couple of days again! :)

Point taken.

It's nice to have the option though ;)

in my opinion the NA is still a great car. I just love how smooth it drives.

it's not that fast as a turbo that's for sure. But because of that it's not meant to be slow.

In comparison to my mates jspec TT (OEM 280bhp - unmodified car) there's a difference in performance of course - but the gap is not that big as you would expect it!

The NA will allways be slow in some peoples point of view just because of the fact that there was a turboed version available.

In my case the NA is the most powerful car that I've ever owned and I'm very happy with it.

regards, Herbert

PS: Don't bother about the saxos and ford transits around, stay safe and let them pass if they need to get their kicks :)

Stock TT is about 320bhp, unless something's up.

That was the 'official' bhp for the j-spec TT as per all of their promotional material. Something to do with Japanese regulations and an agreement between Mr T and Nissan I think.

Actual bhp is ~320 as you say.

I dont deny that the turbos are fast and that they will always be more desirable than the NA, but that doesn't automatically make them better. I'd like to drive a manual NA, just to see how much more scope you have for keeping a powerband open. I'd also like to drive a nicely BPU'd Turbo auto and manual as well, just to see what they're like. I'm happy with my NA for now, its an excellent introduction into Supra ownership. I can learn all the foibles associated with most aspects of the car without having to worry too much about the engine. I'll be getting a turbo one in the future, I don't doubt that, I just love how the cars drive and look.....plus, there aren't many sports coupes that I'll physically fit in!! :)

Thing is boys and girls you are all picking the wrong fights, and ultimately its why N/A's lose. On a non NSL road or motorway you are not gonna get anywhere near any of the modern small cars that are geared and made to handle in town traffic. Even a half reasonable family car these days including diesels will with a determined individual at the wheel beat most supra's. A supra has alot of width to deal with, a lot of weight to deal with, and not the best low speed handling in the world to deal with, all of these things a hot hatch don't have to worry about. Add a portion of knobendishness to the driver of said hatch and you won't win.

I currently drive a pitiful 170 bhp Vr5 golf as the roads around my way make owning a GT touring car a waste of time and for that matter wing mirrors. I guarantee you that you wouldn't shake me from the back of any supra on my commute to work and if I was in front a supra would properly struggle to keep up.

I've had an NA manual and that wasn't really any more competent than the auto, in fact the auto was easier to drive fast than the manual, the only thing I found it did better was wheel spinning from a standstill, and that's only any use if you like buying tyres.
