Testing the Temp gauge and small fan on radiator

Hi

If I want to check that I have calibrated the temp gauge correctly, can I simply remove the plug in the engine bay and give it power and ground?

Also, I guess its the same to check the small fan on the radiator?

cheers

I believe there is a resistance check that you can do on the 2 wire ECU temp sensor itself, I found it on here somewhere:

70 deg = 411 ohms

80 deg = 304 ohms

85 deg = 263 ohms

90 deg = 228 ohms

That's as much as I had written down, hope that helps with the temp gauge!

Cheers m8, but the ecu sensor is already changed and finally my car takes usual amounts of gas!

But as the Temp sensor also needs changing and I have just put my speedo in the car again I would like to make sure that the temp needle is accurate before changing the sensor.

And checking the fan is just me being overly safe :)

Cheers.

I know what you mean, I just thought if you do the resistance check on the ECU sensor, it could indicate where on the temp gauge the needle should be.

Yes but the temp sensor is faulty so it wont help me measuring. Thats why I want to loop the temp wire to see that I have placed it correctly :)

Well, guessing it will work the same way with the Supra as with other cars so I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Cheers for the help though! Good to know the resistances also.
