antno Posted April 27, 2012 Share Posted April 27, 2012 hi car has been stood since November when i bought it, previously it was in japan and don't know what use it has seen. im planning driving to lemans in June and would like to know if there are and common problems with pipes that have gone hard and split or just anything in general. im gunna throw a belt at it and tensioner and that next week, also cam gaskets,plugs aux belt, going to check all the brakes and lines, torque all the sub frame bolts. check all fluids and generally spanner check the rest of the car. just wondering if there is anything that is a pain in the arse to get to at the side of the road that i could do with looking at while i have a chance. im gunna try and put some miles on it to see if anything shits itself but it would be nice to catch it before. cheers antno Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dnk Posted April 27, 2012 Share Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) The brake calipers would be on top of my list, make sure the pistons move freely and if you have the sliding caliper type i'd check they move freely too. If your changing the plugs i'd get some new coil pack connectors as these can fall apart. Dnk Posted April 27, 2012 Share Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Its well worth replacing the outer seals on the calipers as they perrish and split letting in water etc which results in seized pistons, refurb kits are approx £60 to do the fronts and the same for the rears.
