AJI
I know the thread title won't mean much to many on here but if anyone could help it would be much appreciated. I have an AutoCAD *.dwg file that I'd like converting to 3D Studio *.3ds file format. If anybody still has AutoCAD v2006 please let me know. Many thanks. AJI
Cheers Shane. I used to have AutoCAD 2006 a number of years ago but after updating to version 2010 the 3DSOUT function has been removed which means I can't do the required file format conversion. skyludeboy
what are you trying to do work with a line drawing, or you have a 3d drawing of a model on cad and want to open in studio max?
AJI
Yes, I have a basic 3D model done in AutoCAD and want to import in to a software called Lightwave 3D. The method of getting a 3D drawing without losing data through conversion from AutoCAD to Lightwave seems to work best when converted firstly to *.3DS My current version of AutoCAD does however output 3D dxf, and Lightwave should import this without problems, but for some reason many of the solids objects and faces become corrupt. There doesn't seem to be any dedicated converters on the internet either, so I'm left with trying to track down someobdy still using AutoCAD 2006. AJI
UPDATE Thanks Shane but one of my facebook mates has now done the conversion. He had an old version of AutoCAD still installed on his PC.
