Hi Chaps,

Thought I'd give it a go on here and see if anyone wants a nice 4x4 diesel?

This one is very clean, and would make a great tow, farm, gardening, building, boat towing vehicle etc.

This is a limited edition version as well (300 made in total), and has a tasty Sony double din fitted, along with uprated front speakers.

Most importantly the engine is freshly rebuilt using a brand new block, after piston 4 popped out the old block! this is a known weakness on ALL these engines, so mine is a much better buy than the ones that don't have the stronger big end shells fitted. Job cost £2,700 alone!

Long MOT & tax and no VAT either.

Any inspections welcomed.

Cheers.

Peter

That is really nice!

If it is a known engine issue, I wonder why Nissan didn't go a recall on it?

What are the chances of the same problem reoccurring?

Hi, that's a good question that plenty have asked including BBC Watchdog over here. They wiggled out of it by extending the warranty period, but only for those customers with a FULL main dealer service history. If you missed a service by a few miles, it wasn't covered etc. Very poor show in my opinion. :(

The specialist I used is a former Nissan technician for 30 odd years, and specialises in rebuilding these exclusively. He told me the issue will affect EVERY D22 no matter what mileage, service history etc. The beefed up big end shells I have in mine along with regular oil changes (chain driven) will see this do 200-300K with no repeat of the problem.

Their demonstrator has over 200K on the odometer and hasn't faltered since the rebuild they did with the updated big end shells.

Hope this clarifies things.

Pete :)

Just to add Nissan didn't uprate the shells on the ones they rebuilt. They used the stock OEM ones. Those engines are therefore prone to the same failure at some point.

It's unbelievable how a manufacturer like Nissan can get away with something like this. :(

Have a surf on the net, knackered Navara site makes for a good read! ;)

Real shame, as these are awesome load luggers & bloke toys otherwise. :)

I may be interested in this mate,

I am still in the market for a 4x4 to tow my track supra to racetracks that are further away.

Have you got the details/receipts of the engine rebuild.

I'd love this. What's the mpg like realistically?

richardstock1 - Yes mate. Comes with the receipt for the engine rebuild and a 3,000 mile / year (whichever comes first) warranty that is transferable (checked with Geoff at the Nissan 4x4 centre). Also has service stamps in the book and loads of receipts from main and independent specialists mate.

Ian W - I honestly get 34-38MPG on a run with this at 70MPH. If I put £85 in diesel, that gives me 350-400 mile range. Very economical considering the size of it! :)

This would be a perfect tow/support vehicle for a track car. You can carry 4 people, toolboxes, tyres and spares in the flatbed and tow a small island behind you! lol. When they took this to be rebuilt, they towed it with their demonstrator Navara (can't miss it as it's in the orange/blue Gulf racing colours!) on a static bar from Kent to Tyne on Wear!!:taped: Just shows how capable these are! Write up shows they were built to carry a tonne of sand!!! Lol.

I have a Tenner to my name. If I had the cash I'd be having this, no doubt. :(

Lol, might be able to lower the price a bit, but not as low as a tenner I'm afraid! ;)

Surprised this hasn't been snapped up to be honest! :(

Need some snow! Lol. Then it'd sell! ;)

Sensible offers guys or it's eBay time!
