BenRichardsFife
OK! The time has come for me to finally turbo my sup. After some research on the intertwebbb, it seems I have 2 main options 1. Buy a NA-T turbo kit, which is VERY expensive (£5000+) ouch 2. Buy a used 2JZ GTE engine and swap it for my GE engine I never really gave the 2nd option much thought because I thought that the GTE engine would be really expensive, but I was on ebay and had a look at GTE's for sale and the prices were rather cheap :O I seen quite alot of GTE's with 25k - 35k miles on them with the ECU, full wiring looms etc going for just above $2000 (£1400ish) which is alot cheaper than the turbo kits etc But as with alot of things this seems to good to be true... im waiting to find out the catch about why they are so cheap? Or is that really the price for the working engine. Obviously the engine would need to be installed into my car, which is fine - a trusted and experienced mechanic would know what he is doing, and I would have the cash for the labour etc. So does anyone have any insight to this? Would this be a sensible way to go turbo? (twin turbo infact! haha) btw... This is the engine I was looking at, the feedback looks good, and the engines come with a 30 day warranty which is...a Little peace of mind I guess http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-Toyota-Aristo-2JZ-GTE-Engine-Auto-Transmission-2JZGTE-Supra-ECU-Igniter-/251037494446?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a73002cae&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/2JZ-GTE-DOHC-Twin-Turbo-Engine-only-Toyota-Aristo-94-/190423812182?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5624c856&vxp=mtr
ellis
New Ecu? Wiring loom? I'm sure there's far more to it than that. Like many on here I wish I could be bothered to use the Search button but then again it is 5am and if my evil bladder hadn't woken me up I'd still be ruining Kate Beckinsale in my dream. BenRichardsFife
The full list of included parts is on the ebay listing, I just mentioned the main ones, my bad lol, I'm pretty sure it includes everything needed though, it was just more of a question of the engine being legit? And decent, does £1400 sound cheap for a working GTE? "/
Swampy442
Sell the n/a car, buy a TT car. Job done and cash saved.
BenRichardsFife
Cheapest TT near me is over 5k, my car was only 2k, would I really spend 3k on installing the GTE? :O
ellis
Oh yes - engine plus ancillaries plus fitting time etc - you can add a couple of bags of sand to that price. False economy mate - put the cash into a ready-made TT and stop living in the clouds!

Graham1984
You still have shipping and fitting costs on top of that, Frankly if I was going to go that route I would either pay Keron or Dude to fit it as I have seen the costs only end up being around 2.5k all done. Supra Gaz
Contact Keron at Extreme performance and go on his waiting list, he sources the engine and drops it in, he has done many many many of them and is good. He used to do it for £2500 but inflation may have scuppered that. If you have a good straight n/a looking how you want with a nice interior swap the engine. If your supra needs a stack of work, bin it and buy a tt. I'm with the former personally, two years getting my n/a right and once my new bumpers are on its tt for me, or v8, ooooh I don't know. You could turbo your engine for 3k easy if you done some of the work yourself.

LOGIE
look for a member on here "Parry-10" he done his own NA-TT and it didn't cost him much at all, its in projects section.
listy
Not 100% but a complete TT engine for £1400??? More than likely, its JUST the engine, albeit with looms and ecu, but probably no turbos on there. I looked at doing an engine swap in my old NA, but decided in the end that it would be cheaper, and easier, to just sell the NA and buy a TT, which is what I did. Also, people may say there is only 30k on the engine, but whats to say that isnt a load of s**t and its actually done 100k?? Would you be able to tell the difference? What if gaskets have gone? Or another problem with the engine that wont be seen at first? If you want to go engine swap route, go to keron. At least then you know you will get a great engine out of it, rather than risking buying something that may not be so great.

Expecting a TT conversion to come in soon, we have the TT autobox as well to go on the back of it.

Lude
If you can do the work yourself id get the engine and swap it. Iv had an engine conversion done before, old lump out and new lump in 500quid. Depends on what else needs to be done. I would be very suprised if engine had that much low miles though. The swapping of engines never go according to plan and budget. In the end you may end up hating the car. Id go for the TT straight off and just enjoy from day one :-)

I keep talking myself out of bothering even though I want a faster car badly....... sensible me says I just cannot afford it for the time being. I hate sensible me and think him and his ideas suck.
