ibby
Does any one use a oil filter relocation kit on the 2J-GTE and if yes, which ones? Thanks
Chris Wilson
Never add additional hoses and fittings to engine oil systems unless there's an overwhelming need to do this. More fittings and pipe length adds restriction, and adds the possibility of failure or leaks. ONLY use proper race type fittings, and a 3 litre twin turbo needs at least -10 hoses and fittings, and preferably -12 The price mounts alarmingly when you get over -8 in size, for both hose and fittings. ibby
can you advise how to remove the oil filter? My hands are big and I struggle due to limited space. Thanks
Robzki
I remove the battery and get at it that way, I also have large hands and even with a sandwich plate on and associated wiring its not too difficult.
Josh
can you advise how to remove the oil filter? My hands are big and I struggle due to limited space. Thanks Read my thread about changing mine. Absolute nightmare! There's no way I could get it from above, and below, I could get to it from two ways. One way, I could get my fingertips onto it, the other way, I could hold it but not twist it the correct way. I ended up using a screwdriver and a hammer and it came off with a bit of persuasion. Ended up with two decent bruise lines on my forearm from struggling for so long. Good luck!
Robzki
Is your engine different than mine Josh, I'm not sure how a UK differs around that area from my jspec. Either you are even more of a monster than me or you're doing it wrong
Chris Wilson
Remove it from underneath. If you have big hands call the wife. If she has big hands too, then you're struggling....

pedrosixfour
Lads, don't try and kid yourselves, saying that the wife has big hands. It really is that small.

Robzki
Are we still talking about the oil filter, if not I think you are doing it wrong too.
Al Massey
I have tried many ways and struggle like hell to take off the filter So I pop a hole in the bottom, drain the oil, hammer a screwdriver in and turn Works a treat and no hassle really and I don't cut my knuckles trying it What is the best way? Nodalmighty
I have a -12 kit with a thermostat and 235mm x 25row cooler matrix. Used to be fitted to my mk3. I used fc332 push fit hose and fittings but with additional jubilee hose finishers as a bit of added belt and braces. Kept the hose runs as short as possible. I also have a matching -6 235mm x 25row matrix which I will use for the auto box fluid. In the middle will sit the charge cooler rad. Lyndon. The best way is to pay someone like me to cut themselves up and stink of old oil
Josh
Is your engine different than mine Josh, I'm not sure how a UK differs around that area from my jspec. Either you are even more of a monster than me or you're doing it wrong My forearms are too big and there's no way I could get my arm in far enough to reach it properly. The fact I have an extra two turbos under the intake manifold may not help...
Robzki
You have a quad turbo? 2 on the inlet and 2 on the exhaust side? my turbos never get in the way, are you sure you're removing the oil filter?

ibby
I dont have a supra, I have a Toyota Aristo! The last time I changed the oil was around 2000 miles and it was a proper mission. I can just reach it from the top, Had to loosen the manifold to get my arm in!
garethr
You need a socket set and one of these Never any problem on Aristo, GS, or Soarer. Standard Toyota filter is 73mm x 14 flats, I believe.
