Now with pics - Hassle with my New Alloys

Well. Upon agreeing to purchase a set of Mania Racing Vortex Evolutions from a seller (S) on driftworks i arranged a courier through highly reccomended Direct Courier Solutions. No problems. They use City-Link as their transporter who require each alloy to be packaged seperately and so I relayed this information to S.

Pickup from Kent was arranged for Monday and I was emailed last night through the tracker system that 2 items had been picked up from the address. I found this strange but assumed that S had mabye mis-understood my instructions and packaged the fronts together and rears together which the courier had accepted.

I awaken this morning to another message that 3 items had been loaded onto the van for delivery. I began to panic. Courier arrived at 12:15 with 3 alloys only. I queried where the 4th was with the driver who suggested they may just be delayed and could be delivered tomorrow. Just to check, I phoned City-Link to find out if they had the 4th on record at least. They do not. So somewhere between Glasgow and Kentone of my front alloys is missing. S has confirmed with me that he himself loaded all 4 into the van, so the company has lost one.

A case has been opened on my behalf to figure out what went wrong but for now a very exiting day has turned into a very dissapointing day. I have been told that City-Link allow 24 hours for deliveries from the depot but as they have no record of a 4th being recieved then i highly doubt this. I'm expecting an update from them in the next 4 hours to see if they have made any headway but for now all i can do is worry.

These are the alloys in question:

And to rub salt into the wound, my only distraction is to study for my University exam next week

Rant over......for now.

Just had a quick response from City-Link and they claim only 3 alloys were ever booked in to be picked up so they are shifting the blame to the seller who is not best pleased. He says he has signed paperwork showing otherwise so is calling them on my behalf to talk to them.

This is going to get messy i feel :(

One might've disintegrated in the back of the courier van.

This can actually happen, it did to my jun bonnet. it had only just started though, when it arrived only the corners had disappeared.

Good luck if this goes to a claim, mine has taken 10 weeks to resolve.

Anyone with half a brain cell would realise wheels come in sets of 4!

Hope its sorted soon.

This is what i dont understand. The service I paid for quite clearly states 4 alloys 19-22" with tyres £54.95 as shown here:

http://www.directcouriersolutions.co.uk/product.php?id=45

So City-Link should also have this information to know what they have to pick up and fit in their van so how can they tell me that only 3 were booked in?????

As for the seller having paperwork I only hope it does actually state that 4 were taken as he only said that he "has paperwork". I am going to ask that he faxes or scans me a copy when he calls me back.

Another update for those that dont really care. The seller has phoned City-Link himself and categorically stated that 4 alloys were loaded by himself into their van and that it is them that have lost it. He spoke to someone clearly more helpful than I did as they are going to search for it and maintain the possibility of it just turning up tomorrow. I hope this does happen but I have already sent out a querey to a company to send me a brand new replacement which I am waiting for a quote on.

We've all done it mate, myself included. If they don't want to arrange the delivery themselves, tell them no dice.

Yeah definately. I just thought that by doing it myself I would be able to watch the tracker and see where they were without hassling the seller. He has been a great help to me though I must give him credit.

Just get the seller to send you the tracking number, thats what i do. I sent aload of stuff to Ashbuster on here, i made sure to arrange the postage so if there were any problems i could sort it out myself. I also took alot of detailed photos of the condition of the parts before and after wrapping. When they were collected, i made the guy sign the sheets that i had printed off to say he had collected X amount of packages. When they were picked up to contacted Ash and gave him the tracking details :) Its a bit of hassle, but it should help you avoid any mishaps which WILL eventually happen as all freight companies i've ever used really dont give a crap about the customer.

Thats an excelent set up you have for sending things. Tbh the alloys themselves are not exactly in "as described" condition but i got what i paid for because they were cheap with reasonably new tyres. I would just like to have all 4!!!!

What a bummer mate it's amazing how something so simple can turn into a nightmare!! Can you not put the 3 on and just take pics of the good side :D

They will look nice when you ecentually get them on the car. If anything at least they can pay for a new wheel and tire if it doesnt turn up mate.

I have already considered this and might just run with the 3 or even just the back two on. Will look really stupid but means the car will suit the look and personality of the driver :D

Finding a UK TT is tricky enough - just ask Josh. He'll be along in a mo! :)

Sorry josh!
