Paul, could you approach your brake supplier KAD & see how much they would charge for 2 piece discs ( disc & bell) for the standard UK brake calipers. I have found some Apexi but they are silly money + I am not sure how available the replacement disc would be. Slotted would be nice.

Anyone else fancy a set of these so Paul can gauge interest??

Well the KAD kits use AP discs at the moment so they wont be much cheaper really, I do know there are some cheaper discs on there way, from Germany I think it was, so that might make them worthwhile doing. Project Mu's are around £350 each approx plus getting them back from Japan to here plus duty and VAT, pretty much pointless, might as well fit a big brake upgrade.

Hmmm, hmmm :innocent:

Actually the seperate bell type disc is worse at heat disipation in so far as the heat path to the big mass that forms the wheel hub, and the wheel itself are concerned. Apart from the weight saving of an ali bell, rather than a 1 piece cast iron disc, the other reason for a disc on an ali bell is to STOP so much heat transfer to the hub bearing and wheel. Usually an 2 piece disc and bell set up is used with a bigger and also better quality, more heat stable, race type disc casting, so the poorer heat path through conduction is improved by better attention to convection cooling, by having more and better internal finning in the disc, and better air flow TO the disc via ducted air. HTH.

I have been offered some new AP six pots and 4 new AP discs, would form basis of a bigger than normal aftermarket AP six pot kit, if you have 18 or bigger diameter wheels. i would need to make custom bells and brackets, but the price would be a worthwhile amount less than the smaller AP 6 pot kit available from AP themselves.
