Do you mean how to obtain a code or how to find out what the code means?

The OBD port should be under the steering wheel on the column behind a little bit of plastic that clips off. It's then a case of plugging in a diagnostics reader to get a code. I don't know what the prices are like for them but the cheaper ones still tend to work.

Once you've got the code, passionford of ffoc should be able to help. I think they've got threads that cover engine codes :)

It's the engine model code im after... Like the supra's 2jz etc

Ah, sorry got you now. IIRC it's either near the passengers side of the rocker cover on the side. Or near the top of the gearbox at the bell housing (where the flywheel is).

If you can find the chassis number, I think the last 5 digits on that is the engine code too.

Is yours a petrol or diesel version? AFAIK Ford dont use engine code and just engine groups. The details on the VIN plate will identify the engine to the dealer

The Petrol engines are termed Zetec SE for the 1.4/1.6L which is the Sigma engine found also in Fiestas and Duratec HE for 1.8L and the Duratec FFV for the 2.0L and are both the Mazda MZR type and can be found in many other Ford models, if it diesel then the term in Duratorq but I dont know its origins.

The term Duratec is used on all petrol engines ranging from 1.1 litres in Fiestas right up to the V12 Aston Martin engines!! Hope this helps a little
