Chris Wilson
There are probably cheaper and easier ways to look like a right plonker, but just how escapes me right now..... Some Yanks have got to an art form, admittedly.

Robzki
I've been offered an 02 plate with a few extras for £900, good price? I'd love it but wouldn't fit in it but it would mean that the supra could come off the road for the summer so I could get some work done on it and it would save me the purchase price in fuel costs. Chris Wilson
I would disagree and say the auctions are worth a look. Forum members tend to have over inflated ideas of what their cars are worth. They also tend to be "enthusiasts" who flog the living daylights out cars. Joe Public who has bought one for his wife in Acacia Avenue is often a good source in the small ads, too. If it's to be an everyday, all year round car pay a premium for one with a factory hard top, and a new hood with a heated, glass rear window. Guest Nurotix
Snow? Come on, these cars are like 10x more fun in the rain and snow than they are in the dry!! I used to look forward to a wet day when I had mine. An 02 plate for £900 is REALLY good, is that for a MK2? What's the catch? Don't worry about not being able to fit, I'm 6ft5 and I find them really comfortable and love the driving position. You'd be suprised. Robzki
hmmm, no catch, I've known the car for 5yrs and never thrashed etc. I may give him a ring and try it for size. It wouldn't be me that drives it though. The missus has the Supra as a daily so I only get to work on it during her holidays. Shes just worried that the kids at school will think shes gone into a career as a hairdresser.
Guest Nurotix
Oh and places like Autotrader are a gold mine, often "normal" owners have no idea what it is they have, as there a lot of special editions floating around. I picked up an import MK2 RS (the best/quickest MK2, tuned 1.8 engine, LSD as standard, 6 speed gearbox etc) for the price of a normal 1.8 because the owner had no idea it was anything special. viper
i dont know if its been mentiond before but theres 2 diffrent versions of the mk1 mx5 theres the jap spec and uk speac, the jap spec comes with an LSD and depending how long they have been in the country could be tidy underneith ie no rust. Keeping an eye out for one with a hard top included is definatly worth it as they are relitivly exspensive to buy seperatly. id love to put a picture of my car up but im scared of the opinions peopel wil lshare. it was rather mad. although came second at wings and wheels show
ripped_fear
Bit gutted on this subject as it looks like I'm not going to be able to buy the one in question as the insurance is going to be another £800! but not to worry i only have to wait till june as thats my renewal so price should drop so will keep my eye out then. feel free to keep in the information flowing as I still have every intention of getting one just going to be a month or so later than expected. SteveR
I want a mk1 MX5, the 1.6 would be fine.... Westfield do a kit that uses it as a single donor vehicle.
