Robzki
my list just made 6k No it didn't, it was £3600........£2400 is a lot of unjustified cash, and I haven't argued some of your prices which seem a little 'rounded up' Working it in a different way, What would need to be added to one of the whifbitz kits(there are plenty) like: http://whifbitzperformancetuning.co.uk/toyota-supra-supra-turbo-upgrades-turbo-kits-garage-whifbitz-p-11965.html Lets assume you already have a fmic, egt, afr, boost gauges and a free flowing exhaust+decats as most of these are fitted to bpu cars anyway. I am still just curious btw.

JamieP
Thanks, neither of these add up to 15k though. Off the top of my head, im sure ive missed a few bits. Add that lot up. Turbokit £4k Syvecs, few sensors and mapping about £3K Manual you will need a decent clutch £1500, if auto you will want a upgraded autobox such as the Titan one, not sure what they cost, £3000? Set of cams £600 Injectors £500 ish Decent exhaust £800 Intercooler £500 BOV £150 Bosch 044 £150 AFR, EGT and boost gauge £400 ish Oil cooler £200 I would do the oil and water pump with new belts £400 ish Labour id guess would be about £2000-3000

So without an autobox/clutch roughly £10k on a completely stock non bpu car. if you get someone else to do it. I'm reckoning then it could be done to a good standard bpu+ car that has already been well serviced with new pumps etc for £6-7k if you do most of it apart from the mapping? Which is why I'm still confused by £15k, I could have spent £5k to go bpu if I'd bought the absolute best parts, imported, and then fitted by the local rip off merchants. I cant see a stock auto lasting long at 600bhp. I think a whifbitz turbo kit was £3300 and the kit was good for 600-700bhp. Nope, with VAT its something like £4100 last time i looked. Thanks for all the replies, I'm not going single for a long while. I'm trying to get the base of the car sound before upping the power. I am looking at cams and vss next along with the crank pulley. I have a feeling my turbo seals are on the way out anyway but I'm hoping they last long enough so I don't have to have them reconditioned to keep the car on the road. Samurai 20V
Robzki, I am in the same boat as you, my car is full BPU at the moment, and as it is with us petrol heads, I am looking at the next step, which is single turbo... The bank for buck is definitely worth it, but it is alot of bucks.. Being in Japan, there are some parts which are cheaper here, but the actual turbo and manifold is still very pricey here.. I reckon rather fit quality parts at first, rather than risk having to do things twice.. My proposed spec was as follows: Turbo kit - HKS Setup or Whiftbitz twin kit (Includes downpipe, wastegate, oil lines, nuts bolts etc..) Turbo - Garrett GTX35R ECU - Syvecs, but based on mappers in my country likely I will go for the FCon Exedy Carbon D twin plate JUN 264 cams SARD 800cc drop in injectors Exhaust - Maybe upgrade to 4inch, I have 3inch Intercooler - Already Have Greddy Spec LS BOV - HKS Racing. Fuel pump - Walboro (Paul Whiffin reckons its good for 600hp) or Bosch 044 Gauges - Have plenty already Oil cooler - Mocal or something similar Oil pump, crank pulley, VSS would get done at the same time... All this is based on the pre-req that the motor is sound, any higher power, might as well refresh the bottom and go forged internals at the same time.. Radiator is changed on my car, I would change it for at least an OEM if not in good nick.. Anybody want to cost this lot out? Its why I'm always dubious about the prices bandied about here. £3000 is a little more than £2000, £1000 in fact which is a fair bit of money, prices seem to be about 25-50% higher than the actual price if you shop around. I would think that a syvecs, whifbitz kit, srd etc cams are pretty good spec.
