Ian C
Hi all. I wrote to Chris Mann with a collation of the feedback you guys have been giving about the event, and here is his response so far: "To all we'd like to take an opportunity to thank you all for the excellent feedback and repsonse received so far from across the net, and to answer a few on the points raised also. we are alos aiming to have a full set of all results with team reps etc by tonight. TOTB 4 Response to teams/reps. Following some excellent feedback so far about this year’s event, and also some minor but justified criticism, we’d like to clear up a few points for reps to pass onto the team/groups. 1. Grandstand seating- As mentioned, we were let down on the weekend with 2/3rds of what we actually booked failing to arrive on Saturday, and despite best efforts all round no extra units could be found at short notice from other suppliers. This will of course be rectified for future to give three times as many seats for spetcators. Our P.A system was much improved, and would also have extended to these other seating units had they arrived. 2. Catering prices- these were set by the contractor across site, but we have already raised the issue of their pricing structure with them if they are to continue to provide site catering in the future. 3. Timing result displays/feedback-This was a disappointment on the day to us. We had fully computerised/automated the scoring this year for all 3 events, and should have been able to publish top ten and team points through the day. This should have been feedback to the pa system/commentators every 15-20mins, but didn’t happen properly on the day. This has been raised as an issue with the entire team, and we plan to have wireless site comms or similar in place for 2006 to give instant leaderboard updates to displays in pitlane for competitors and also in spectating areas. In the past we have found that large screen LED displays didn’t work, and therefore another system of keeping all better informed is in hand. 4. Car club competitor areas in pitlane- we have always pre-marked out the club competitor areas for previous events, unfortunately this year the site was subject to a torrential downpour throughout Saturday, leaving the pitlane open to first-come basis for clubs, as markings were not able to be laid down due to the amount of water in pitlane. The extended pitlane was much larger this time, and access restricted to non-competitors. That worked much better with regard to keeping the areas clear, but we will also have even more security persons to marshal these areas in addition to those employed this time. Many more timed runs were completed this year on the handling and drag strip by more of our competitors, which was a great improvement. 5. Signing on – competitors will be able to send in a completed signing-on form along with their entry for 2006, to cut out the queuing times at the start of the day. 6. Spectator parking queues- to reduce the queuing time to get into site we have already agreed to move the pay gates fully inside and onto the spectator parking runway, opening it up to 4 lanes at a time, rather than just two as present. Hopefully this answers some of the common questions being asked, and again, we would welcome feedback via the team reps etc for next year to improve on what was another very successful Redline Totb event.
