I dont understadn your defence here, the bike 'followed' the gtr to over 147mph and at no time did he put lights on or sound a siren to stop the gtr from continuing to accelerate. The gtr actually pulled away from the bike so god knws what he was doing yet dumb arse plod can only manage t pull up next to said gtr and tell him to pull over AFTER watching him break the limit on two occasions AND witnessing him racing another driver. You applaud his riding skills yet rip up the gtr driver? In my opinion the copper shouldn't be on an unmarked bike with no lights or siren, they are there to prevent crime not hide in an unmarked vehicle and wait for it to happen so they can bust you.

If I was the copper I would have nicked him for having such a slow car, dont see why the Primera driver only got 2 months less than the GTR driver when he barely did anything !!!!

I know, I can get pulled for doing 75 in a 70 and yet the lorry that has followed me for the past 12 miles (at 70-75mph) which the police had to pass to pull me gets left alone yet he's breaking his limit by a lot more than me?? I'm sick of traffic cops.

Now we all know how I feel about police, well most of em !!! But we need to remember the amount of little cocks they see driving like idiots and we get labelled the same, also the amount of fatal accidents they attend must effect their judgement.its not a job I would relish.

not much will change the motorist has always been a easy target , you only have to turn the news on every night and hear about some crime and that they got 100hours community service for something far worse than a 30sec run to 145, infact if those cars where stolen they would have got off lighter Ive watched most the motorway cops series and at the end of the program after a 30min car chase through red lights etc they get some community service and a fine or the cps decide not to take the case further,

Anyway heres a few tips from chris rock I thought it was funny

If you look at the video you will see that the rider is waiting for a safe opportunity to speak with the R34 driver. It was text book, the R34 may have been driven fairly well but I doubt he has the training to know what to do if it all hit the fan. The rider does, regardless of what anyone can say. The driver was speeding before he was followed. Tough muck. Don't break the law and put other people on the roads lifes at risk so you can hit boost and see your Speedo hit 145 with traffic about. I'm not in traffic anymore for a reason, I didn't like the beaurocracy, but some of the people in my old team are some of the best road drivers out there and stick their necks out to help people. Your right also, Police are their to prevent crime, we do it by catching people and getting them charged with this thing called evidence, which is what he was gathering.

they got screwed but the judge 6 months jail is rediculous, that must be suspended sentance , i got caught at that exact speed 147mph and got £500 fine and a 6 week ban. to be fair it was at 2am with no other cars apart from the unmarked bmw, but 6months jail how stupid is that the cost of that to keep him in jail and then loosing his job to come out of jail on benafits, Yeah good call !!!!

As said if that car was stolen he would of got less then 6 months,he must have been a repeat affender

At no point did anyone defend the actions of the gtr driver, I don't know why your saying tough muck to me in that respect. I break the speed limit quite frequently sometimes intentionally and sometimes purely by accident, if i get caught being a naughty boy I take it on the chin. My argument is the way the rider did it. You can call it text book all you want but the rider witnessed a crime from two drivers, and decided he was going to allow a chase to happen upto 150mph with no lights, sirens or any way of alerting the general public, he had a conviction right there, why did he allow anymore risk to the public to continue. I would like to see how his 'training' would have coped when one of those cars pulled out into the fast lane after seeing a gtr fly past and missing a slender bike coming up at 147 with no lights chasing it??

The GTR driver has no defence. He head speeding in traffic. End of. You can not in rational thought suspect the actions of a man driving that fast and suddenly having blue lights on behind him, will he nail it, go even faster and drive more erratically to get away, causing more problems, will he in blond panic go to move in and hit someone. You have to wait for the adrenalin to be down, him being stationary was the perfect opportunity. As for the rider taking as risk to catch him. Well that's what they do.

Found this on the gtr forum , looks like more than meets the eye it was a new scheme and they wanted big results oh and the copper on the bike is a pervert lol - read here http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/4629112.Elite_Sussex_cop_quizzed_after_web_sex_offer/

FACT - English Law Sates: 'Speed alone cannot be deemed dangerous'.

Punishment does not wholly fit this crime and hard working taxpayers will literally pick-up the tab as only a contribution towards legal costs was imposed.

FACT - (not opinion) Footage aired has been edited, one can only assume in an attempt to deceive. Coupled with the usual media garbage - it would appear to have been successful.

Corruption is rife and yet again the taxpayer is unknowingly financially supporting this abuse.

FACT - This bike was 2 weeks into a pilot scheme and Sussex Police must been seen to be producing results to secure funding to keep it, of which there is precious little, so that they can get their thrills on the ultimate 'boys toy' in the name of the law.

FACT - Pc James Appi (bike rider) criticized in trial for his DANGEROUS exacerbation in this incident.

If you are a worker and happy for your contribution to be abused in this way you won't have a problem.

FACT - Having passed sentence the presiding judge then gave the defendants grace to RETURN HOME for several days including a weekend. This sends a message to any intelligent individual that something is not right with this case. Judges never give custodial sentences and then let folks return at their convenience, think about it!

These two chaps never denied the speed right from day one and therefore a trial could have been avoided, for one of them 'Careless' should have been the charge but the 'law-abiding police' made sure it was something else and the judges actions support this lack of justice. Thankfully he saw through it and although he is bound to some extent by the law he did what he could within its constraints.

I recently witnessed a car right infront of me spotting blue light behind him when he was exceeding the speed limit. The drivers reaction was to move to the inside, he did this too quickly as he knew he was in trouble, skidded off the road, up and bank and barrel rolled in the air and was thrown from the vehicle. Thankfully he survived despite breaking his back etc. - not a pleasent experience.

For this reason, in my opinion he pulled the car at the right time as he obviously would have known the round about wasnt far away.

However, looking at the FACT's above, maybe I am wrong.

I saw this before it was edited and the bit at the end where the copper speaks to the guy "can you pull over" was far from that in the original! It was a very irate copper shouting at the top of his voice far from professional and calm and far from can you pull over!! The officers should be calm and professional yet arnt! This is why most people lose respect for them!

I'm in the fire brigade and it is not just when police come up behind them some of the stupid things people do when they panic because of sirens and blue lights is comical and very dangerous! People just need to keep calm and sensible

I am not going to try and defend the actions and opinions of every officer and force. People come up with 'how things happen' 'fact' all of the time. The real fact is that the officers I know do not do stupid rubbish to get a simple dangerous driving prosecution, pony arrest and waste everyone, Including their own time. If people really knew how thin the the 'thin blue line' was and what we deal with day in day out maybe we would be given a little more grace when they are shouted at for comitting offences, people can complain that we should be professional all of the time, we try but low and behold we are normal people doing a job. Can you honestly say you have never had a bad day at work and had enough?

To be honest i don't care what people can and will say about the police, i and my colleagues do it to help people, it isn't fun anymore, that has been sucked out be Teresa May and the recent reviews. I only want to see the bad people get justice and the victims get some decent service and hopefully feel justice has been done.

Those who don't seem to like the police are usually those who commit offences and get caught and feel they have been poorly done by. Boo hoo. Stop breaking the law. We do have some idiots on the force who push things, I am glad to say that I am and my team are not them.

If you don't like us. Tough. We are here to stay. We will continue to do our best with rubbish resources, lowering budgets, less officers and an increasingly complicated legal system.

You've never exceeded 70mph on public roads then?

Just curious.....

I'm not saying anything on a public forum, but then as has already been stated, speeding is not an offence in itself if not caught, at the right time and place we all have fun. Just use your noggin when you do it.

Not being funny but yes everyone has a bad day at work but when you work in the public sector what do you expect! When I talk to a guy who is drunk and crashed his car, thrown his keys out the window and then couldn't get out because his legs are trapped and couldn't run away start telling me how much he wants to hurt me because I'm doing my job just because he is frustrated at what he has done do I go off on one at the guy? Do I walk away and say we are not releasing him because he has hurt my feelings!?? No I do the professional thing ignore him and get the job done, the professional choice! I don't start shouting him down, saying you broke the law you deserve it "don't break the law" that is just an appalling view Gaz sorry! You have to be more professional and if you can't be choose a different job where you don't work with the public under stressful circumstances!

I think you have miss-understood me Bradley, I don't shout at people, I understand it is the uniform and what it represents that people are angry at, some don't get that. I am proud that I can say I don't and won't shout at people when they are either ar their worst (because of alcohol or stress) or are just bad people. At the end of the day I go home happy and havnt felt stressed in months. What will be will be.

I'm glad you have that outlook as many of your colleagues don't and seem to think they are better than any civilian. But I'm with you on the what will be will be! I choose to do the job I do and except the conciseness of the risks involved and no matter what the public do or say I just rise above it! I think it is a hard job you do and one I wouldn't choose to do! :)
