fordy_alexsupra
I have a aluminum radiator and the OEM Viscous Fan 'with out' the radiator/fan surround, will this affect my cooling temperatures? I very rarely sit in traffic but common sense tells me the radiator/fan surround is for efficient cooling purposes but will it make much of a difference with out it? Dnk
I've never run without the shroud but its obviously there for a reason and possibly more importantly, how good is the aluminium rad, most aren't an upgrade even though their sold as such. Swampy442
Without a shroud, all the fan is doing is whizzing air round the engine bay, the shroud is a duct designed to draw air through the radiator.
fordy_alexsupra
Yes, the viscous fan feels like it pulls air through the rad and having a surround gives it better suction across the space? Brought my rad off ebay, not oem designed but as my car is automatic I wanted a alloy ran with a build in oil cooler! So could be a pile of crap but the veins look similar to my original. Lude
itl still cool the radiator withought the shroud, just not as effective i ran my 300zx withought one and never had issues.

Thought so while stationary cooling will be insufficient, cheers
