ashbuster
i drove 70 mile last nite to get home. it was really quiet so didnt take it too easy. when i got home i noticed a bubbling noise so i lifted the bonnet and i could hear a bubbling noise coming from my rad/expansion bottle/and engine the car drove fine not overheating so why would it be bubbling like crazy? i take it this is not normal lol could this be a faulty rad cap? or could it be something else too
The-Plethora
Rad cap is a high possibility, I had it on mine and it just seemed to be trapped air, haven't had any problems since.

Josh
im sure i could hear something coming from the rad cap , sounded like air. wheres the best place to get one from or is it a toyota job? thanks bud I have a stock rad cap from my TT6 rad you can have if you want it The radiator (AFAIK) had done about 80,000 miles. CJ
Rather than a second hand one that has seen 80,000 miles, I would rather pay a couple of quid and get a new one.

I was just thinking to rule that out, in case it's not that, to use one that was fine when the rad was removed.
Supra N_A
yep same thing to me.. got a blitz rad cap and sorted the job out perfectly
Gaz6002
Let me just give you all a word of warning: don't install a rad cap that is rated much higher than the stock one. You're asking for trouble if you do that.
ashbuster
that was my next question, the blitz is for 1.3 bar so am i right in saying not to use it?
Gaz6002
I can't remember what the stock one is mate, but I have a feeling it's 1.1 bar. 1.3 sounds too high to me.
Havard
Just get a stock one. They are as cheap as chips..!!
Colin-mkiv
stock N/A rad cap is 1.1. I'm waiting for one coming as well, but since removing the air-con rad and all the debris that was between that and the radiator the car has been behaving itself anyway. But that tiny extra bit of pressure in the system puts that little bit extra strain on things eg radiator pipes, the gaskets, the headers on the rad etc etc. It also raises the boiling point of the water as well, which can be advantageous, but not on a car with a mild tune on it. tony tt
I had a 1.3bar rad cap on mine (Blitz) Never sealed right and always wondered why there was coolant spat all over my engine bay stock cap FTW! Not had a problem since.
Westy
HKS 1.1 bar rad cap is what I have...replaced the stock one as I was getting "nose bleeds" with coolant on top of the rad...nothing since!
