Chris Wilson
I would try and buy a short N/A engine, or a full N/A engine and strip it yourself. cranks don't travel or store well unless great care is taken. A slight mark on a journal, or any rust renders it either scrap or needing a regrind. You need to have a used one checked for straightness, ovality and size before using it. I always get used cranks micro polished by someone that knows how to do it properly and won't cause rear main bearing seal oil leaks. (If you have a bad payer you can polish a crank in such a way as it always weeps oil at the main rear oil seal and / or the front seal, and they'll probably NEVER find out why )
IDO
Think i've managed to get a Full N/A engine... Thanks for the heads up people.. Thanks Chris for the warning, The garage who is fixing my car uses a place that seem to have a v.good rep for sorting and polishing cranks( they were looking at my old one and found a slight bend and a crack) but i will mention to the garage about looking out for the bearing seal leaks... Many thanks all Ian
