Lude
i have a vauxhall corsa that i had given to me, trouble is its salmon colour was thinking of painting it black. i have painted alloys before and rocker covers etc etc with cans, but obviously im going to get propper spray gun & compressor for this. am just going to do things like the bumpers first to see how they come out. if they are good i may even spray the skirts on my supra (as they need sorting) has anyone ever done it with no experience? with good results? clean, prep, spray gun & thats it?? i have a garage to do it in by the way
Josh
Speak to EvinX, he sprayed his full Supra with Hammerite and did a pretty good job.

SupraDan24
Your number one priority if your going to be doing it yourself is preventing contamination of the paint. You'd need to clean your work area very thoroughly to prevent dust settling in the paint. I've seen various people on here do diy spray jobs and most have been somewhat successful. Preparation will be the key, as will knowing how to use whatever paint you decide to go with. Not all paints are as easy to spray as other. If your going to be doing it in a unventilated garage then you might look at water based, you won't get the best range of colours but it's not toxic. I doubt water based would be good for doing your skirts though as i'm not sure if you will be able to find your factory colour. If you dont go with water based, make sure you get a proper mask!! Dnk
I'd personally leave your supra alone. Doing a freebee you got is fine but dont devalue your p&j
The Raven
Hamnerite? Angry mum? Dog Urine? Funny thread? If you can tick all these boxes go for it.

fastcar
To be honest if it is your first time spraying a car I wouldnt try spraying black as it picks up every mistake. I would try with a much lighter colour.
Colin-mkiv
I did a p100 pick-up with aerosols. I used satin black and it came out pretty good. It cost me around £70 inc all the primer, paint and other materials. I kept the truck for around 6 months and it weathered really well too. I had to touch one or 2 areas in when some one decided to scratch it, but it was a case of rubbing the scratch down a bit and then simply repainting the panel, on my driveway. It was awesome that truck, a proper Mad Max job with staggered 15" chrome wheels and Mickey Thompson rears, a big Hilux tripple 3" rear roll bar with a wide recovery lightbar and full Sierra 4x4 interior and front end etc. It was only a 1.8 TD and wouldn't scrape the skin off a rice pudding, but the looks it used to get was unreal....haha

Doing a freebee you got is fine but dont devalue your p&j Perfect advice this, by all means do the corsa, but get a pro too do your supra, i painted mine and cocked it right up totally wished i hadnt now (although still looks better than before), theres a hell of a lot more work involved with painting a car then i first thought good luck with the corsa, that colour is horrid
