Graham1984
you couldnt really say mate. some engines can make huge bhp with much less torque where as some engines can make mountains of torque with a relitively low peak bhp. bhp is just what the engine peaks at , torque is the engines twisting power , thats what does the job Off topic a bit but did you ever sell your 6speed box and the NA engine with TT pistons as a kit in the end??? If so I bet someone out there is very happy. You and Noz and loads others make me realise how absolutely sod all I know.

Noz
we both have T61 turbos. craig helped me along the way as did he many others. poor sod has had to put up with many phone calls from myself and most probably other na owners when they are in a hole. just need to do your research graham. once you learn about compression ratio limitations its just finding the pieces of the puzzle to allow the engine to run boost. Me trying to piece together a turbo kit is a bad idea and even worse hassling others, I couldn't put that much hassle onto anybody.... See this from my signature as a reason why "I am way too dumb/retarded to try that.... I need instructions and illustrations just to put socks on." Maybe they have turned the corner somewhat.
dr_jekyll
yes there are us made manifolds and chinees made manifolds. the us ones are braced and noticeably thicker steel. wastegates are pot luck i think , but the oil lines are a bit pants . as said my manifold is fine, fitted perfect and was braced from the factory. never had a prob with it
Noz
my manifold isn't braced. though i bought it second hand and has signs of heat use and with no signs of cracking i thought id take a punt. no problems as yet. though i get spikes over 7psi due to the wastegate pipe on the manifold not being big enough to flow the gases (this is what ryan reckons). im sure if i use more boost there wont be an issue as there will be less boost through the wastegate. your fighting a loosing battle promoting xs parts graham, people have their opinons and dont want to listen. it doesnt seem to be `cool` to use un-branded components, even if they work 100% and dont fail, that seems to be un-important. they have had issues in the past, and some dont last. ive had my turbo running for 5 hard months now, done well over 3k and its only been weekend or going out for a blast. no issues whatsoever. just need more power
