good post nos, allthuag alot of that i have said befor in various na-t post but people choose to ignore it because im just a nuggut from wales that doesent spend huge amounts of money on fancy intakes and fuel rails. im glad that post actually shows that the parts toyota used are as well designed if not better than lots of these shiney bolt on parts and are more than cabable of handleing more than most of us will throw at it. obviosly the forum has some expeptional cars that do need bespoke parts but for what most of us generally do, the part you allready have are more than enough

Just out of curiosity Noz how far in your humble opinion do you think you could push a NA-TT on a 5speed a la Keron conversion without it pooing itself. To be fair I have not seen too many NA-TT people speak up since trolling this place as to if they regretted the conversion or not.

Afternoon as well :D

I spoke with marc at suprapod last year and he hadnt regretted it for one second, he was even going bpu.

But he has had his car since very low mileage.

The thing that got me was wondering how far along the Bpu line you could get on the 5speed as the standard jump from NA to TT would feel like quite a bit already but as we all know the need for more always strikes.

Well personaly I wouldn't want to go any further than bpu on a w58 as you are nearing the point where the box will decided to die.

Would that be full Bpu though (Boost controller, full decat ect) as that is the thing that gets me as lbs foot and for how long it would last is the key. I thought about 350bhp would be a safe limit for the W58 without replacing the gearbox every other year.

I am amazed bpu is even considerable on a w58 in the first place over TT transplant and stop there.

I'm a bit shocked at the fuel rail, as I was looking into getting a group buy sorted. Now I'm not so sure. I only want just over 600 on my spare, it's super pennies for something that already works. Be better off spending it on lighter pistons.

You going for higher power in yours any time soon?

400bhp on a w58 that has oil in it.

parry has 420+ in his BPU, he is w58. I only have 373, but i give it proper beans. I would say 350 is a bit tame for reliability, I mean it can handle more easily (depending on condition im sure).

but any box thats been abused will fail. if you track a NA enough with slicks im sure it would screw a box. i dont go lightly on mine and no issues yet. id say full BPU would be fine. anything over 400bhp and your looking for trouble. i know my box will fail, 1 because of how i drive and 2 because im getting a R154 why not enjoy the car. if it doesnt fail when i swap it il just sell it.

Thanks Noz mate a nice summary there, I keep looking at both TT NA-T not bothering and it is doing my head in, I was fannying about earlier considering a new exhaust and then it reminds me of more money spent for in some regards nothing and that if I sold my mines the manifold and gathered the cash I have got I could raise 2k although with no car to drive unless I source a 1st cat...... Then I think about handing it over to keron and job done for £2500 ifrc... Decisions decisions or just pay off some of my debt like a sensible person and stop being an idiot.

no way mate. i took mine testing today @1 bar (approx 500hp and 500lbsft ) and it was mental. no more power required. it was lighting up in 3rd on slicks

thats sick! when you own an NA you look forward to it being wet to be able to spin in 2nd, with a turbo the wheels spin easy just by flooring it without having to dump the clutch and that to me was awesome. for me to think of spinning slicks in 3rd is crazy and im near 400, so thats bloody awesome mate. you still running the emanage?

well with bigger injectors , bigger turbo , electronic ignition and a syvecs thers no reasonn why 7-800 should be an issue. personally i think the car needs no more power . its very quick , anything els would just be bragging numbers, it wouldnt make it faster around a track imho

I thought that was a general consensus that around the 600mark would be a great daily driver without being too over the top.... Saying that though with myself having a stock ish NA 600bhp would be absolutely mental :D

its not just about the numbers , its how the power is deliverd. i use my car for sprinting and circuit driving. and youd be amazed how much time you loos spining wheels and corecting a mad rear end, too much power on a track car makes it horrible to wrestle around. on a road car you will just be doing short bursts from a roll to show off. you never be exiting a corner on the edge trying to get back on the power asap. if you have a clever rltc system then you can run more power because the competer moderates it for you and only gives you the juice when the car is straight and the grip is there..... but im a purist, my right foot is my TC

I would just like a car that has some power to have a bit of fun with mainly just to be able to punch it a bit when I need to, To be honest after nearly trashing the car coming off a roundabout when it bit and I was not expecting it racing around is not really high on my list of things to do but now and then on certain roads I do like to have a bit of a play. I need to sit down and cost it all out really one day and make a rough list of how much for each part ect.

a standerd 7 psi na-t is a massive step over an na mate . see if you can try one . it will suprise you how fast they are. rember 7 psi on a high compression engine makes a big impact. 7-9 psi will be 370-400bhp .thats not to be snarled at and requires respect when you are driving it

My mate on here Neil1985 is interested in all this as well, I will have a look and see what and where I could source bits from and try and work out costings. Maybe I should use Noz's list as a guide. To be honest the power you said was all I would ever want anyway fullstop IMHO, I would be happy as larry with that.

I would be happy pushing 400bhp too! Rich has 407 coming out of his na-tt and it feels comfortable. I would be happy with that for the road car. I'm going to be scowering eBay and the parts section for some time I think! As long as I can woop Rich I will be a happy happy man.
