davis6110
Been driving the supra round today and noticed a wierd noise and sensation coming from the left rear brakes, this maybe something obvious but im new to supras so thought id ask anyway, when driving it makes like a scraping noise but not a constant scraping noise its like scrape, none, scrape, none and so on and obv faster you go faster i gets, then upon hard braking its the same kind of thing but a sensation instead it sort of feels like the brakes are being applied, on then off then one and so on, i believe this could either be the brake pad is sticking / too tight or the brake disk maybe buckled, please could someone help me with what this is likely to be :-) Thank you
ripped_fear
I had exactly this the other week, bought a new oem brake calliper and all better now. I suggest you or a mechanic strip the rear wheels off, and check they spin freely, and if not take the callipers of an see if you can free the pistons. If not get a refurb kit or a nice shiney new caliper. Hope this helps Jake

ripped_fear
cheers mate, im going on a 50 mile trip on monday but wont have time to have em looked at before then so hope they will be ok should be for 50 miles if i drive steady, ill deffo have em looked at when i get back tho :-( Its a risk you take but as long as they are not binding to bad and you drive at a sensible rate im sure no harm will be done. I would suggest you jack the car up and simply spin the wheel to see if this is the problem, as it will only take ten mins and if it is then you should be ok. How ever the sound could be caused from a low brake pad, If its nearly to the metal you will destroy your disk when driving on it. Well worth a check as new disks will set you back a fair few £££

davis6110
Cheers i was just abit worried that with the long distance my discs might get red hot and buckle :-(
ripped_fear
Cheers i was just abit worried that with the long distance my discs might get red hot and buckle :-( Well they could get hot, not sure about buckling due to the heat. Just drive on the back roads and keep your speed low. When mine was binding i drove the car a couple of times to and from the garages and i had no problem. But i kept my speed as low as possible just to be safe.
Ian C
It sounds more like a warped disk - one quarter of the disk is thicker than the rest, and that's what you hear every revolution - it catching on the brake pads. You also get a higher braking force because it's a bit thicker as well.

davis6110
Had the wheels and callipers off yesterday, the inner pads are completely worn, nearly to the metal, luckily i think i have caught them just in time as the discs look fine :-) didnt check the front but i dont need to cause im gonna get new pads all round just so i feel safe :-)
Dnk
I'd be having a closer look at your calipers incase the pistons are seizing or if its sticking on the caliper pins if its the smaller single piston sliding caliper set up
Lude
could be low pads or the dust shield catching. wheel off remove pads and have a good look round :-)
