how old for reasonable insurance?

Depends what you class as reasonable?

At 18 I insured my NA for £2400 which some people see as steep, but in comparison with a corsa which they wanted £2000 for, there was no argument?

This.

Some people see £3,000 as reasonable on a car worth £3,000 - I just don't understand that

Insurance seems to massively (and I mean MASSIVELY) depend on where you live.

I used to think that, but if your 3k car hit a bugatti veyron and caused 200k damage (wont write it off unless it was more than 300k damage maybe) then that would seem cheap alongside the claiments obvious whiplash PI claim that followed. ;)

I do agree with your second point about location affecting insurance massively. That needs addressing by the insurance companies IMO. Totally unfair and not wholly accurate based on limited crime statistics and accidents rates.

The crazy part is i can insure a £13k valued uk twin turbo with 400 hp with all the mods my car has for

less than a sub £3k na import with no mods.

Go figure as thats nothing to do with postcodes etc but the crazy world of car insurance

Indeed, but imagine paying £3k every year for a car worth £3k, ownership over 10 years would cost £30k on insurance alone, in that time you have had no accident, out of 50 people insured 2 people have accidents the insurance company makes a killing on profits! You spend more on insurance than on cars!

I understand where you coming from but if my insurance was more than my car, I'd buy a different car.

Just don't understand the folks who happily pay it.

Insurance is a nonsense topic nowadays anyway, it has just got ridiculous.

And then you have the ones who have JSpec's who are paying cheaper than the UK Spec's!

Crazy indeed ;)

I think how long you have had the car makes a big difference too, my initial quote from sky was 1800 pounds but the person I spoke to told me he was going to get in touch with the company to see what they could. The quote came down to a 1000 pounds solely on the fact I had owned the car since 2010.
