CarlT67
I have just got off the phone with Toyota and tried to order some v160 gearbox oil part no 08885-01306 only to be told this number has been superseded by another and it now comes in 5ltr quantities for around £65. Has anyone any experience with this? I didn't take the part no of the superseded oil down but I'm going to pick it up later. I really don't want to put the wrong oil into my gearbox. pedrosixfour
Has it just been replaced by the number for the V161 gearbox oil? Toyota are fans of putting about half a dozen different part numbers on the same product.

Westy
Is the oil for the V160 and that for the V161 different!?
Chris Wilson
I think I have a couple of gallons of the stuff I could spare. V160 and V161 use the same oil. If I had another MKIV with a manual Getrag I would put a normal high performance gear oil in it, like Motul Gear 300 or Neo, but am loathe to recommend others to do this due to the modern blame culture. No way would I run it on ATF to eek out MPG, which is what you are doing with the Toyota stuff...
CarlT67
The PN of the superseded oil is T08886-82025 It's an ATF TYPE T IV The guy at the parts desk input the part number for the oil in and the computer indicated that this was what supersedes it. I asked him hypothetically if I was to bring my car in for a service what oil would he put in, he said as they are not a Supra approved service dealer he would have to contact them to access the service information as he can not read it, he also went out to the workshop and asked what they would put in and the just said some 75W30 or something. Bit worrying, really dont want to put the wrong oil in. I think I have a couple of gallons of the stuff I could spare. V160 and V161 use the same oil. CarlT67
My local BMW dealer stock the MTF-LT-2 fluid, you have to take your own bottle down though as they only have a drum of it down there for them. Seems as if this is the recommended alternative so I might go with that.
costas1
the oil that toyota is using now is ATF same as used at the automatic gearbox of a toyota AURIS...try MOTUL ( you can find it in the MOTUL catalogue ) and you will be fine.i am alreday using it (i am talking for a six speed getrag always)

CarlT67
The BMW stuff is £18 something +vat per litre which I didn't think was expensive really. How much is the royal purple synchomax?
