Another insurance thread.

My insurance is due for renewal at the end of the month and i know there have loads of threads where people have been getting great deals with comany A and company B. Unfortunately being only 23, 99% of these companies hang up on me when i give details of the the car.

Basically im calling all under 25 owners to list who they are insured with, apart from Elephant who im currently with, to save me the time and money of phoning every company in the yellow pages just to get hung up on every time.

Not only will this be of great benefit to me but the info could be used in the technical section for reference by everyone.

Cheers in advance guys.

well im only 20 mate and i know that feeling when they put the phone down when you say its a supra, im currently with admiral but i think they are part of elephant. They are the only ones who said they would insure me, half the others in the yellow pages said i needed to be at least 21 and the other half said i had to be at least 23.

im with tesco but you can write them off as i dont think they do new policys for under 25's i just keep renewing.

Also anyone after insurance and worried bout the pain in arse bit of a crash!

I had a fault crash, within a week i had an home engineer out checked car i gave him the prices i got for parts from toyota. he noted all down, added what he thought was appropriate labour and spraying price for parts. Told me cost and said we will send you a check minus your excess. So for instance a toyota bumper is £745 from toyota. i have now got an aftermarket one + sprayed for well under that and will buy other mods.

Ohh and the cheque arrived within 7 working days

That is awsome. Elephant, last year, cost me 1600 for me and the missus, 3 points for me but 5 yrs no claims, and thats on a completely stock J-spec TT.

Will give them a ring this week i think.

I spoke to a lady at Sky Insurance who couldnt get me any less than £3000, Im 27, have 2 cars with access to a third, and with 2 NCB living in Liverpool, supposedely in the "best" (safest) area for insurance.

She said it was because of the area and the fact that Sky Insurance only really cater for the South East (or West, I cant remember) of England. She said when somewhere up north like Liverpool comes up the premium shoots up, I guess due to the underwriters. Ho-hum.

I ended up going with Norwich Union direct at £1769.

Bear also in mind, that my premium BEFORE I added my fiancee was around £2268, I added her (she had wrote off her car previous year) and it unbelievably it came down £500 - weird - so that may be something also to consider.

Jamie's ringing be back today, will let you know how it went gaz

Cheers Ro, will be interested to see what quote you get.

Also please remember that the cheapest insurance isn't always the best. We've had some very cheap examples posted up before only to find out the insurance company was quoting for a mk3!

Im always careful of this with any car but was especially careful last year when getting insurance, that and the fact its an import TT, i make sure they have ALL the details correct before signing anyting.
