Dnk
Has anyone got anything that works ? I want to keep them out of a garden area that they appear to like using as their toilet.

Dnk
This is in a built up residential area so i don't think using a gun would be a very good idea.

mplavery
They don't like citrus smells or spicy smells , I know some people spray areas where they don't want cats to go near with water mixed with lemon etc How long it lasts I don't know
Graham1984
I have the same problem as they love sleeping on my car the little darlings... Although a much harder cat or dog or better yet a dinosaur are all valid great ideas I believe the pet friendly way is that you can buy some pellets that the cat hates the smell of and should keep it away from your garden if you line the perimeter with them. Chucky_waR
You can use Lion urine which you can get for £10 of the web or seeing it's a built up area try a pillow and shotgun.. The pillow will act as a homemade silencer and you won’t see the remains of the cat as it will be covered in feathers.

Dnk
http://www.cat-repellant.info/html/renardine.htm This site has some great ideas To stop cats climbing over your wall or fence, suspend a length of string about 6-9" above the fence and hang impregnated rags or used tea bags every few inches or so That must look great ! Dnk
I was hoping for something like an ultrasound unit to do the trick and that someone on here could recommend one that works.
Chucky_waR
My dad back in South Africa did the following to deter cats jumping on his car... You need a stainless steel plate for the feet, a stainless steel food bowl with some nice smelly treats and a rubber mat that goes in-between the plate and bowl, two crocodile clamps, long electrical lead and 220 volts with the earth wire removed. They only get zapped once and never return.
SPG
Hey Dunk, i had the same problem with a certain area of my front garden. I was told to fill two clear bottles (1.5ltr coke bottles for me) with water and lay them in that area. I must admitt that i was rather sceptical about this approach at first, but 6 months on i have had no repeat incidents of messing. Apparently something to do with their reflection or something like that. Worth a try though. Cheers

Gaz6002
Yeah, cats don't like their own reflection.
ozz
I too heard that the half filled coke bottles worked, seems odd. I must admit I'm now intruiged as to what 'impregnated rags' are?!
Dnk
Not sure i want bottles of anything on the garden. Has anyone tried the ultrasonic cat repellers ? they seem to have very mixed reviews along with the LION dung pellets called silent roar There is one thing on the market which is a motion sensor activated water sprinkler which has potential knowing how much cats like water but their £50 on Amazon
Style
If you have the time and parts at your disposal, you could always build this
Schtuv
I put down freshly ground pepper where my cats were shredding the carpet, and that stopped them heading to those areas ...
Dnk
I'd have to keep doing that though as rain would wash that away and on 400 sq ft of garden its not practical.
Abz
Go and wee in the area that they visit, you can do a dump too but that won't help The bottom idea with water is good and have heard this does work. Not sure on the Ultrasonic noise Dunk, knowing my cats it would disturb them & then they would get use to it.
Dnk
If you have the time and parts at your disposal, you could always build this I think i'll try the motion activated water spray, at least that should stop them from having a dump, i dont mind them walking through but im getting racked off with them digging holes and crapping everywhere. Dnk
I've bought this off Amazon so will soon see if it works, fingers crossed they clear off and ***t in someone elses garden, preferably their own !
Graham1984
I would like to try out your idea Abz but I think that if I start walking around my car peeing and curling one out I will end up getting arrested.... A lot of agrovation to keep a cat away and I don't know how my defence of “The cat started it” wil hold up in court.
