JohnA
Looks like a scam, but worth a shot perhaps. You could just say yes, accept payment, and then wait for a week to see if anything goes wrong with Paypal. There is no rush to ship anything to Nigeria. After a few weeks, if all is well, you could either consider sending it or make up an excuse and send him the money back. My guess is that PayPal will have tried to reclaim his payment soon after it reaches your PP account.
JustGav
Scam!!!! But question is how...... Suppose, get the money into your paypal account and leave it for a week to make sure it doesn't bounce... Unless of course they are buying the phones to do illegal dealings with... if you do sell it...make sure you notify orange/o2/vodafone that you are no longer the owner of the imei number... just in case something goes wrong...make sure you make a note of the number as well when you sell it and put it on the invoice... raymanuk
See if he pays dude - if it all clears through pay pal then send it. If not then don't worry
tbourner
Email paypal and ask them about security. Send them a copy of the email - see what they say.
far
welll I heard some guy bought a car from ebay and paid via paypal and picked the car up , paypal took a couple of weeks to catch up to the fact the paypal account that was set up was a fraud and reclaimed the money. I have also sent an abusive email back to that person to tell them to stop wasting my time, they havent replied yet. I am presuming if they where genuine then they would have replied back by now. michael
General rule of thumb - if it says "Nigeria" at any point it's a scam.
JustGav
UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI, MPA, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, NO.27,ARALILE STREET,BEHIND COCA-COLA,VILLAGE,SURULERE,LAGOS,NIGERIA., SURULERE-LAGOS, OR 23401 Judging from this address which I found on the net... it looks like it could be a university or something in the area... Still sounds fishy tho, why would someone in singapore buy electronics off shore...
Faye Brother
General rule of thumb - if it says "Nigeria" at any point it's a scam. Agreed. Walk away now.
Chris Wilson
Lagos, Nigeria, Nigerians in any sort of Internet business transaction = SCAM, IMO. The wifes company sells medical equipment, had they prgressed ANY of the seemingly great deals suggested by assorted Nigerian potentates, dignitaries, commsionaires or friends thereof they'd have gone bust years ago. DaveRex
Its a 100% Scam mate, no doubt in my mind ! what a tosser for messing with your auction
JohnA
Still, I see nothing wrong with letting them 'send' the money and wait for a few weeks to see what happens. They'll be desperate to get the goods obviously, but they can wait.
garetheves
Its a scam ive had exactly the same email, almost to the word when i sold a phone. Buy Now option was taken within 30 mins of the start of the auction, had same email about being in singapore but want it sending to a Brother in Nigeria . Thought something was fishy so held fire for a few days, payment was sent via Western whatever they are called but a few days later the guy had been kicked off ebay. Luckily i hadnt sent the phone and ebay refunded my fees. Id have some fun with emails with them while at the same time report them to ebay
JohnA
yeah, the more people are willing to accept their fake money (without sending any goods obviously!) the more often they'll get kicked out and be discouraged from these practices. They probably use eBay accounts based on stolen credit card numbers, and try to flush them via eBay...
nickyboy
Had similar e-mails when selling my car - def scam, but don't forget that these guys are great for amusing e-mail banter. You can e-mail them pretty much anything about what you're selling and they say it sounds great and they definitely want to buy it. Well it amused me anyway.
