kniff_666
Just watched "Madness on Wheels: Rallying's Craziest Years" on the i-player. Brilliant documentary about the Group B years of Rallying. If you have ever had an interest in rallying at all or just love cars i would recommend you give it a watch. It can be found here but is only available this week on i-player. Shows both the good, great, insane and tragedy involved with this era of rallying.
Gaz6002
Watched this on TV the other night. Fascinating, but not long enough IMO
garethr
It's also repeated on the real television a couple of times this week.
kniff_666
I think its worth watching on a big screen with no buffering etc. Plus watching at home means i do not run the risk of getting caught watching at work again. lolz Any ideas of the times its on? heckler
I like the fact the Lancia Delta S4 could run 5 bar of boost, and develop over 1000 Bhp out of a 1.8 (i think) 4 pot - bit of a random fact
monsween
I watched this on iPlayer today. Fantastic.
kniff_666
all the drivers of the S4 explained the acceleration as "like being launched off an aircraft carrier" which is understandable when it could get from 0-60 in roughly 2 secs ... Impressive numbers that only get more impressive when you consider that it set that time on gravel.

garethr
I think its worth watching on a big screen with no buffering etc... Any ideas of the times it's on? BBC Four tonight (April 3) - 20:00 and 01:
Colin-mkiv
If only crowd control had been properly addressed then the Group B may have still been around. Some savage cars were built for the series though, and sitting on top of your fuel tanks in the Lancias must have been bum clenchingly scary at the best of times. The-Plethora
Watched this tonight on BBC4, very interesting I find WRC so much more exciting than formula one. I know the delta gets all the glory but if I ever win my millions, i'm having one of these!
tkddav3
1000bhp on dirt? far more exciting that f1. shame its not still around but such a combination of mental power n unstable road conditions cant be very erm..safe
Gaz6002
I find F1 absolutely miles more exciting that rallying as a spectator sport. It's next to impossible to effectively televise a rally, but the F1 shows are brilliant.
Ross C
Just watched this. It was all before my time but have heard some stories and things but to actually see and hear first hand from some of the drivers was just amazing.

Gaz6002
Far more respect for WRC drivers than F1 Now that's a whole different thing. WRC drivers certainly know how to pedal. I don't think rallying is as exciting to watch as a decent circuit race though.
kniff_666
1000bhp on dirt? far more exciting that f1. shame its not still around but such a combination of mental power n unstable road conditions cant be very erm..safe Its like they said on the program tho. If it was safe and there were no risks, no one would be interested ... least of all the drivers.
