If I am reading this correctly, you have removed the ac pump and left the same belt on and now it squeaks? If so its because your belt is now too long. But what bracket do you refer to?

Edit. Just seen your photo in tech. Shorter belt still? I will have a look on my spare engine to see what is left on it in that area.

yea i have a shorter belt,

i had a squeeking noise, which was both the crank damper, which i replaced.

the squeeking noise remains now though from the belt, yet when you push the PAS pump backwards with a bar it goes.

Just put a pump back on. unless you want to fiddle about trying to make the front part a support bracket. The thing only acts as an idler pulley until the electromagnetic clutch is engaged by the ecu. I am sure your car is not stripped enough to warrant worrying about a 2 kilo pump, and a broken and scrap engine block's a high price to pay for fiddling with brackets that are not up to the job. There are BIG loadings and a lot of stress on this region. Run no A/C pump at your peril. 4 scrap engine blocks and counting, so far.
