Markie
Hi guys.. Just recently had 2 new front tyres. Same sizes etc as the ones replaced. Obviously balanced etc at the garage and they also did I four wheel alignment. They said it was not far out, but adjusted it all to green ranges bar the front drivers side which was still not far out.. Now, at around 80+ I am feeling some noticable vibration through the steering wheel which was not there before... Before she was SOOO smooth and feeling sturdy upto and over 150+ Could anyone give me there professional view on what may be causing this please? Tracking/Balancing??? Thanks in advance, Marcus. Markie
What would the tracking effect then, just wondering on the road and the tyre wear? Then, balancing usally the vibration?
supRo
I've had same issue before mate - Try balancing at a different garage - worked for me on my old Prelude. Their balancing machine could be crap or need calibrating. Forgive me for asking but you didn't use remoulds did you???!!!!

The most common problem is that most places use the centre hole in the wheel as the dye mount on the balancer, this is wrong, the centre hole is cosmetic in position. the correct methode is to use a 'studed' plate that bolts the wheel to the balancer and mimics the mount on the car, this methode is exacting. second to 'on car' balance. Markie
Is that what they will need to do then mate is use this mounting thing? Wonder if they have such a thing. Never seen a garage use it before...
Markie
Hi again all... Just been back to the garage and have had the front wheels balanced again. Feckers charged me even though they balanced the wheels about 100 miles ago Still getting vibration through the steering wheel. Its fine till about 60 + then it is in my view very noticable.. Really stuck on what to do now. Wondering if the tracking they did has been fecked up by them, as the car also seems very unsure on the road.. Not like it used to feel. Anyone on here, traders or whatever that do 4-wheel alignment and balancing.. Will travel anywhere in the UK just to get this fixed as it is really spoiling my driving of the Supra.. Ahh, my 500 post... Or maybe 500 question
D3xt3r
When the tires are really new it sometimes takes some heat cycles to get the tire walls to the right strength. Had this on my old MR2. After 500km everything was fine again.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
did they balance wheels using the studded method, if so try 4 wheel alignment just done this to one of my customers car
Need4Speed
Tracking errors don't cause vibration, out of balance wheels do.
Zed
Does anyone know of a place that balances wheels with the bolt on method as I've never seen this. Will also be useful for the alloys on my daily driver Citroen Xantia which actually has no centre hole in the wheel !!
